First crash sound (loud woO woO woO like pendulum…) but Teamspeak works …
Then freezes the image. Sometimes buggy sound but the game does not hang.
Sometimes hangs both audio and video.
If I play PvE is no problem. This problem only WvWvW after about an hour of play.

This problem started happening after I disabled on-board audio and started using the HDMI audio on my Nvidia card. If I uninstall the Nvidia HDMI audio driver and reconnect the on-board sound, the problem does not occur. Also, only seems to happen in vW
Win 7 x64 pro
Nvidia 5xx vga
realtek on-board audio
Belkin HDMI cable

Try setting your sound quality and buffer sizes to the middle, this is a know problem since release and yet no “real” fix.

I have EXACTLY the same problem

Exatly same problem when doing an event that has tons of us there (Jormag, Arah in particular)
Solution would be to exit the client and re-log back in. I missed a chest once because of that.
Any news for this?

Yeah I kind of solved it by lowering in-game sound quality bar.

Decline in the quality of sound does not help. Changing the audio buffer settings does not help. Removing sound drivers for the video card does not help. There are other ideas? It seems that the problem of the compatibility of Nvidia with the game.

Mine was doing the same thing and turning off shadows and reflections stopped the freeze up now for 2 weeks.

Having the problem frequently now. (only in WvW). Get the bizarre noise, then seconds later the noise rapidly stutters and the game no longer responds. (have to ctr+alt+delete) Once i restart GW2 it is back to normal.

This happens to me too. Not very often, but when it does happen it’s usually when I’m in WvWvW
Intel i5 3570k 4.5 ghz
16gb DDR3 1600mhz RAM
AMD Radeon 7950 GFX Card
Window 7 SP1
Also, I’m using on-board sound, no soundcard installed

Happens to me in any big event. WvW or a World Boss.
Used to be rare but I’ve started doing Claw of Jormag regularly now and it’s happened at some point each time. Sometimes followed by a lock up.

Same thing happens to me. Was going to upload my own video, but it’s the same as Johnny’s. I don’t lockup or anything, but the sound forces me to relog.

EXACTLY……. my problem too. Game run’s flawless for hours on end. Yet, when attempting a larger event (the fun ones) like one of the Dragons, I’ll get the same sound as shown in the video. Once an attacking Zerg builds up to a certain threshold, it pop’s the audio and usually freezes the game client moments later.
….Ironically, it happens right before the end. By the time I CTRL+ALT+DEL and reset, the chest is gone!…..grrrr…..
My system’s setup is
Intel Q6600
4gb ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (HDMI out to TV)
Realtek High Definition Audio (optical out to sound system)
I’ll try lowering the settings to see if it helps but, this only began to occur this past week.

I’m still having this issue. The other night I was in WvW. And, then once again in Orr. I haven’t even tried another Dragon event.
For me, it only seems to occur once game play get’s overly frenetic. It just overwhelms the audio and it goes out. Then crashes later…
