Game crashes when i press play.
Yeah, same thing here. I log in, it downloads fine. Then it counts down to auto play and it crashes. I’ve “uninstalled” and downloaded the game client again but that didn’t help. It’s been like this for two days now. Any ideas ?
I am getting the same problem – at first after a few tries I could load the game but now I can’t get it to launch at all.
I tried the Gw2 repair, updating directX and my drivers and also deleting the local.dat file but nothing is working at the moment
Same here.
Dont how to fix it.Hope someone find a solution soon…
I have the same problem but have a work around……….it may be due to firewall problems with gw2 client not connecting to the internet so your account is not logging in. Try this………
Start up the client and hit log in
You will see the the news and announcements along with the play button but dont hit play. Instead hit the little gear shaped icon above the announcement section and it will give you some options. I edit my settings to log into my account then hit play. The client seems to respond only after you manually log in.
I was going to try to re-load the entire client but looks like a few of you did without success. Try this work around and see if it works.
Anet should really try to look into this………
Well i’ve tried all the suggestions here to try and log in. Up until today I could log in by deleting my local.dat file. Now I can’t log in at all. This is ridiculous. Has anyone gotten any suggestions or ideas from Anet in order to fix this issue?
Technical Support
Hi Kieren – If you haven’t already I’d recommend deleting your local.dat file and then running a repair on the client. If that doesn’t resolve the issue for you I’d like to collect a Game Advisor report so I can look into why you might be experiencing this crash. You can download the Game Advisor application at the link below:
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor/
Please note that you will be automatically prompted to install Game Advisor upon clicking the link. Once you’ve generated the report, you can attach it to this thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
i used to get this a LOT and have recently started to get it again with the new patch
this is what fixes it for me….till next pc restart
go to device manager
uninstall graphics card+software
rescan for new hardware
let it install
game works for me
dont remember why it stopped happening and ive no clue why its suddenly started up again!
ive ran as admin, reinstalled .dat file. done repair
This is ridiculous. When i see that there are many different threads about the same topic its not just one huge coincidence.
Game crashes when I hit play… created a ticket from support.
Told me to try MISCONFIG which did nothing.
Then told me to repair the client and its telling me that putting -repair at then end is not a valid input.
Everything was fine before the patch….getting extremely frustrated with this situation.
Arena really needs to look into why this is happening and not just assuming that its everyone’s computer.
Hey Guys,
I put in a support ticket and they figured out the problem – a programme called ASUS gamerOSD which is used with ASUS graphics cards – removing this fixed the problem

Could be your computer..or it could be a user error like the few you made that i bolded
1: its “MSCONFIG”
2: -repair is a valid command line, you just need to add a space like this
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
Is correct
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”-repair
Is INcorrect.
Unintstalling Gamer OSD worked for me also. Thx SEM
Glad to help
