Guild Wars 2

Two of my characters are currently stuck in Mount Maelstrom. Every time I attempt to login to these characters the game client crashes.

I’ve tried the to run the -repair client and it did not work. I’ve tried guesting on multiple other servers and it did not work.

Please help.

Any fix for this that I haven’t tried? I can’t login to these characters and it’s annoying…

i got same crash also on wvw

and that crash prevent me from repairing gw2

but i still got the crash when i try to repair it

my gw2 already out of program files(x86) since beginning

so i tried to cut it into program file(x86) it doesnt work as well

still got the fatal error crash when repairing

i followed those instruction properly

I have the same error. I followed these steps, moving the Guild Wars 2 folder out of my Program files(x86) folder, but like Ulet, when I tried to repair I had the same error when attempting to repair the folder.

Thank you but I now experience the crash once I run the repair client.

yeah i hope anet fix this soon

Any other things to try? I’ve not tried reinstalling the game, but I’m hoping to avoid that…

I’m experiencing a crash whenever I try to enter EB. It gets to the loading screen, and crashes a few seconds later.

now we got 3 ppl with same crash

Have you looked in your windows event logs if there are some harddisk related errors ?

Else .. is there anything running in the background like maybe a virus-scan, some backup,
disk defragmentation .. or whatever ?

I am getting the same overlapped I/O error 997 trying to reinstall the game. This is a list of things I have tried but I still get errors :

- Rebooting the computer
- trying a fresh install (and trashing the folder in appdata)
- running the program in admin mode
- disabling my anti-virus
- relocating the game directory
- running in repair mode (which just kicks out another error about Coherentui . eye failing)

Has anyone figured this out yet?

i havent tried reinstalling gw2 yet
btw are you guys using bit defender antivirus?

I had the same problem, tried many things to fix it, including running repair, booting Windows with only Microsoft apps to confirm that another program isn’t causing this, deleting Local.dat file etc.

None helped, so I reinstalled the game (left it to download during the night) and that did indeed fix it.

So I can confirm that reinstallation of the game does fix this problem.

Made a ticket a few days ago to ask for help from the GW2 support but its taking them too long figure out the problem.

Any advice would be welcome because I really wanna play.. >_<

Same, except it gives this error for all loading instances. I have also experienced the same error as I was actually playing, where the game stopped loading the menu and item visuals as I progressed playing. Eventually, leading to a crash. Happens in all instances of the game that I have loaded into (LA, MK lab, WvW). Have done all recommended options but it has availed no stop to the crashing. Bump. Even worse with this update. Can only play for 1-3 mins before the same I/O error pops up.

Just started experiencing the exact same issue since this most recent patch. As others have said basic troubleshooting steps don’t appear to fix this (repair, driver update, windows update ect) so I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed for a solution.

Have the same problem as the above people.

Having same issue since this new patch and tried everything mentioned but no luck. I hope there are more people. This is really making me sad.

edit: OK so i was able to repair it after rebooting. took some time but I can log in for now.

Kittens have mercy. Now I’m getting the error even when I’m attempting to repair the client…

I just encountered this issue trying to waypoint into Wayfarer Foothills. Now have 2 characters stuck there and keep getting dc’d at loading screen and the report crash message.

Has anyone gotten a resolution to this problem?

I had the same problem in Silver Wastes. My elementalist remained stuck in the unloading area and when i tried the client repair i crashed every. So i deleted and downloaded again the client. Bad idea. Before i cannot log in just with the elementalist, now i crash after had click the “play” button after the password. To all: if you wanna continue to play, just dont delete the client, it will be a pain.

I tried re download the game and got half way through and it crashed. now as soon as i start the game to try and start the download again I crash

any updates on this error? I really wanna play, but this is making it impossible to do so

I updated all of my drivers and re-dowloaded the game and it now works better then before

I got the same error 997, I already reinstal the game so I can move out my guardian from the map i got stucked, but now i got this error every 3-5 min on game on any map.

And I got the same error when repairing the game like the mod says adove.

Help me to fix this please.

The error is back. Was fine for about week there for some reason?
