Game is unplayable at certain hours.
Also other games are fine, like overwatch, rocket league, and ESO.
edit- I have done multiple client repairs as well, with no luck.
You might try talking to Time Warner and ask if they are throttling when using Guild Wars 2, though I haven’t much luck with their Techs. They are pretty clueless.
You can try using PingPlotter to find out where the issue is, as well. Could be a Tier 3 issue; if so, again, speak to your ISP.
Good luck.
Try running the game with (443 or 80):
Gw2.exe -clientport 443
This may help against throttling, but for a complete test however, you’ll need a VPN.
In reply to Deus,
You aren’t alone. I watched similar network behavior in Huntsville Alabama on ISP WOW business service (no throttling), during the same time as your screenshots. Many central and east coast guild members had the bandwidth issues happening at the same times.
We just moved a guild from Tarnished Coast over to Borlis Pass and had Ping issues immediately (coincidence?), raising from an average of 30, up to 200 and 2000+ after the move. No other games or software affected.
Clearing: temp\gw2cache* .
and using: -bmp -mapLoadInfo /clientport:443
is still worth doing, but I really think the problem is more server, routing, and/or data-center related (possibly upgrades or glitching equipment along the path to west coast, combined with poor handling of connection issues in GW2).
FWIW, Just noticed Trace Route for all map IP’s I’ve been on tonight are going from here in the US to EU servers at Telia in Frankfurt Germany, before coming back to Ncsoft’s datacenter in Texas…
Other GW2 threads on lag and ping spikes have mentioned issues with the center in Germany. Not sure if this EU path is in the loop for all NA players, or for only a certain subset, but seems strange to bind any US connections to EU data-center performance. Blade & Soul supposedly uses the same path, but my wife has not had any of these issues.

Your path to the servers wouldn’t have changed. There has been bad servers (/ip) before however, causing lag in specific instances. Was this in WvW? For PvE, you can simply guest to Tarnished Coast and it should be as if you never moved.

You should notice a ~200ms jump when going overseas. If you’re relying on IP geolocation, it’s not perfect. GW2’s EU servers for example will say they’re in the US.
Thank you for the help, I have made to shortcuts for gw2 client with the client ports 80 and 443, and if i rotate between them it seems to make it much better, which leads me to suspect throttling of some sort.
In addition I had an application that came with the mobo that helped regulate and prioritize bandwidth for gaming via Ethernet port. It was good software, but as I am not currently using the Ethernet port, it may have contributed in the slowdown. It has been uninstalled for now(can always reinstall it via disc later.)
