Guild Wars 2

Hello. I usually play in windowed mode. I played about 2 hours ago with no problems whatsoever. Logged out, turned off the laptop, turned it back on again about an hour later. I started the launcher, it connected and auto-played. Then I hit the windows key and D (to go to desktop and delete a picture on it) and when I tried to click back to the game, it stayed minimized. Restarted the computer and nothing. As soon as it goes from launcher to window, it minimizes itself to taskbar.

I can hear the intro music playing but I can’t maximize it. The icon is in my taskbar and, when clicked on, it’s as if the game was up on my screen, but it’s not. As soon as I hit ENTER, a few seconds later I can hear the waypoint and NPC conversations around my character, meaning that the game responds to me hitting ENTER and enters the game with the last played character, but I CAN’T see anything, only the desktop. Like i said, I played just two hours ago, did my daily… it was perfectly fine.

Please help. I can’t find any solutions on the web, anywhere.

I’m attaching a screenshot of the icon in taskbar, chosen, but no game window popping up. Also, when I right-click the icon, there is no option to maximize.

Well, after looking around some more around these forums, I found the solution 8by mistake, since it was a response to a whole different issue). If this happens to anyone, just delete the local.dat file in your game folder and restart the client. It’ll fix this issue immediately.

Local.dat can be located under %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and a backup may be located under Documents/Guild Wars 2/.

Local.dat contains your locally stored settings, such as graphics and your login. The reason deleting this file likely worked was due to bad graphics settings. If your problem is that the game is minimizing randomly, you may want to look for any background processing that have popup windows.
