So, this is a relatively minor issue in comparison to game crashes and things of that nature, but it is an annoyance to me that I hope to be able to resolve. I have both a desktop and a laptop that I play GW on. Both machines run the game lag free in most instances, never had any crashes, map load-in times are minimal, so no complaints on any of those fronts. However, on my desktop, after I launch the client, login, and click PLAY, I get a black screen with just my mouse cursor for anywhere between 45 seconds to 1:30 before finally taking me to the character select screen. It does this every time I start the game up with no exceptions.
However, on my latop, after launching the client, it is anywhere from 3-5 seconds before displaying the character select screen, and sometimes instantaneously. No clue what could be causing it to take so long on my desktop, but I’ll post what hardware each rig is running to see if anyone has ideas.
Desktop: 1 minute – 1:30 game launch
i7-860 2.8ghz
Radeon HD 5870
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Intel 330 Series 240GB SSD
Asus P7P55D Evo
Win7 64 bit
Laptop : 3-5 second game launch
i7-2720QM 2.2ghz
NVIDIA GT 555M
8GB DDR3 1333 SDRAM
500GB 7200rpm HDD
Win7 64 bit
Only big difference seems to be that desktop has an SSD vs laptop with HDD.
