My game log is when It trys to load it get to the Music ten will not load or play

I have same thing in morning game run great after patch i start game log push play and after fue seconds music pop out and game not show screen with my char i can’t close game.Itry alt f4 ,i try close game from task manager nothing only what i can do is restart my computer.So my question to you Anet i payed for game and u put from my point of view not testet patch and now i can’t play so are u fix this fast or i can get my money back?

I have the same problem. I can log in just fine, but if I hit [PLAY] my whole system locks up.

I’m having the same issue on two different computers. I’ve tried deleting Local.dat and the Bin folder.

I start the launcher, hit login and play and then the game locks up my computers, forcing me to use my reset button…

Edit: Using -windowed mode works for now but I’m very much looking forward to a fix to this. Thanks!

I have the same issue today (3-16-2015) after downloading the patch.

The game patched but when I press play the music keeps playing and the system becomes non responsive and I have to reboot my entire system (ctrl+alt+del/alt4/alt+tab/ctrl+esc/alt+enter.. nothing works). The only fix is reboot of PC.

Running Windows XP (32 bit) with an AMD 7800 Radeon GPU.

Please help I want to play the game :|

running the game in windowed like the guy said above seems to be a temp fix to the problem.

Launch the game through a shortcut using the command line:

Gw2.exe -perf -windowed

Hopefully this will let people temporarily play the game while ArenaNet works on a fix.

After the patch “March 16 2015”, i clicked “play”, and i can hear the music of the main menu, mouse icon changes to gw2’s, but no visuals just my desktop. Ive been playing this game since launch and never had a problem not even a single crash. But now i cant play the best mmo ever.

On pressing play my entire screen flickers forever and locks up the entire computer. (it used to flicker for a few seconds then the main screen appeared, now it won’t end). I can move the mouse around, but it’s laggy and the only way out is a hard reset.

I’m running the integrity check at the moment, I will try windowed mode after this.

I finished the download but mine just sits on Initializing.

Same symptoms as above. I’m able to log in fine than flickering the top of the screen music plays and that’s it. I can’t do anything from here but restart the whole pc.
Game was working fine before update.
Is there an option in the game to turn off updates?
I never even said to the client to search for updates…

Had the same issue. If you’re running SweetFX with GW2 try to move the SweetFX files from the folder, that did it for my client. Not so beautiful without but at least it works

when the patch was over, the game log in screen said ready. when i choose the log in and then play options it seemed to be starting but the screen only did its usual “turn black” it flickers then says a serious error has happened and shuts the game down. please fix my game.

I’m just getting “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” and then nothing happens after that, and I can’t even close the launcher. Had that screen up for over 20 minutes already. I’m on Windows 7, btw.

I tried another MMO and connected immediately, as usual. I’m also connected to Teamspeak with no problems right now.

I had the same issue with Windows 7. Try restarting your computer, that worked for me. Best of luck.

I have the same problem as the first few posters. Game won’t lauch fully in fullscreen. Music plays and mouse pointer changes if you move it, but otherwise locks up the computer. I’m also running Windows XP, but with a Nvidia 9600.

Lauching in windowed mode works, but you can’t maximize the window or the same as above happens.

I have the same issue after downloading the patch [3-16-15]. Worked just fine last night. My configuration didn’t change. Running WXPSP3 with an AMD HD7750 Radeon.

The GW2 client downloaded the files and then AutoPlay kicked in and I see the GW2 Title bar (Blue) flickering and my mouse changes to an arrow. According to taskmgr, GW2 is running but I still see the desktop in the background.
Unfortunately, I can’t end GW2 from taskmgr because all KB input is being handled by GW2. The only option is to reboot! Which means I have to run chkdsk on the system partition.

Did anyone test this release?

Update: Once I got in the game and on a character with Windowed Mode, I was successfully able to switch to Windowed Fullscreen and then to Fullscreen on my max resolution.

So we can play it Fullscreen, just can’t launch it that way… gofig..

Windows 764 bit.
Interestingly, my windows 7 laptop had no problem

This works fine for me but you have to do this every time you log in. When I removed the -windowed, it just locks up.

I’m having the same problem as many of the other users here. I’m not sure if it’s the same as OP but it also started after the patch.

Downloaded the patch fine but when I hit “Play” the screen flickers a bit and then my whole system sort of freezes, forcing me to restart. There isn’t a error message, it seems just to get stuck in some infinite loop of switching to the program. I’m also running Windows XP 32-bit, same as most others with the issue and Nvidia 8600 GT graphics card.

Starting in windowed mode using -perf -windowed works for now though so thanks for suggesting!

That new build patch a while ago did not fix this problem for me.

Also another note.. if you get to real fullscreen using the above method, the game will lock up again when you try to zone, but seems to be ok in windowed fullscreen.

I wonder if Anet is aware of the issue?

Help anet, i am stuck in game limbo. I only get a peek at the faces of my toons before they are gone again and i am asked to send an error report. Such a bummer.

My girlfriend has the same problem on her pc win xp 32bit. Windowed mode helped, but u need to remember that changing zone in fullscreen mode freeze the game so better play in windowed fullscreen mode (the second option), which doesnt make any problems. Anyway, thanks for temporal solution and lets hope that Anet will fix this soon, couse I cant even imagine that they WON’T..
