Did you try this? It was posted a few up from the bottom of the last page.

Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). I found this after googling:

http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models

Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.

I’ll write the complete location from mine, just to make sure you’ve got the right one:

/“your hard drive name”/Users/“your user name”/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2

I think there are 2 different application support folders and one is hidden under a hidden library folder. Is this the same one you’re in?

I deleted the folder – but still won’t start the game.

Tried running from command line – and here’s what I get.

Hey guys as Kyllaa suggested i am popping back since my mac client is finally finished downloading ! …Unfortunately as i feared after i login and click play all that pops up is a grey square that cant be interacted with short of quoting that game. Thanks for your welcome post a few days a ago Kyllaa, and as i have been reading most help posts involve me deleting the GW2 folder that is in my application support folder. How does this work exactly? Didnt i just spend the last day downloading it? I would hate having to do that again. But i will give it a try if it truly works for most people. After all the grey box that pops up is only so fun, and i would much prefer to play the game with you guys lol.

Snoringpiglet The folder contents you will be deleting are only a few mb, make sure the contents you are deleting are the ones that include “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few. If you see these, you’ve got the right one.

This folder contains most of the configuration details and settings for your client, therefore, it seems to reset them and give you a brand new fresh start. Some of your stuff is saved on the servers, but things like graphics settings will be reset… But since you haven’t played, I doubt that will affect you much. I know, new install shouldn’t need this, but hey, if you can play, why not. Hope it works out.

FriarTech, you could try to run the repair and see if that helps. If not, submit a ticket. I ’ll post the steps for you. Pasting from another thread, sorry for length.

Here are a few things to try:

1.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…

2.) repair the client install

Open Terminal

Type the following:

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

You can copy and paste that in too. (check the dash) Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)

3.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one:

Mine is located under the hidden Library folder

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

Delete the contents of that specific folder, then re-run the client.

If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket..

Did you replace the large dash before the word USE with 2 small dashes as stated? Also, why does it say -repaircider? It should only say -repair

The forums are screwy and keep replacing 2 of these – with one of these —

Bugger, I highly recommend you submit a ticket.

That code is exactly what I used to repair mine…

/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/Cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

Just copied and pasted from my comp again to make sure I didn’t miss something… Watch those 2 sets of double dashes. The only difference I see is a lower case c in cider vs a capital.

I’m sorry this didn’t work for you. Definitely check out the sticky for submitting a ticket and have at it, at least then, you’ve got the professionals to view your log files and such and actually tell you what is going on.

Linklol, they still haven’t given us a reason for code C0000005. I was getting that code in WvW but I haven’t received it since about a week after the culling update (so roughly first week of April). But I’ve also not had as much time to play WvW lately so it could be coincidence.

You could try the basics: repair permissions, repair client, delete the contents of the hidden gw2 folder. But these may or may not work for you. If you’d like me to post fresh instructions for these things (with clarified instructions), I will.

Otherwise, please look at the sticky for submitting a ticket and please do so.

Afterwards, please come back here and tell us the solution that helped you so others can also be helped. (Anet is not currently monitoring this forum so we need all the help we could get)

Thanks Kyllaa,

but I’ve lurked on the forums for 2 days now trying to find solutions and I just can’t find one that works. I’ve tried everything and if I am lucky, I can get the game to boot (like a RNG proc), but I must not alt-tab or it will crash as well. I’m just repeatedly deleting the application support folder until it boots. This is frustrating, I just want to play the game

I understand. Have you filed that ticket yet?

Sometimes they’ve got just the thing, I mean, it’s not like anyone has ever said “code C0000005 is an error produced because x failed to y and therefore correcting z should help with that” I don’t think anyone other than Anet even knows what exactly that error even means.

It would be nice to get a list of those types of error codes and the basic cause of them, so we could be less helpless in finding a solution. Pc and Mac alike, the only answer for this one comes from them directly and I’ve not seen a solution here or anywhere else.

So, make a ticket, get the fix from them eventually, and repost that baby here to help others!!!! Good luck to you and hope it gets fixed soon.

i was having an issue where upon install I would get the 31 error. it turned out that my HD was using DOS, which has a 4GB file limit, so my install would konk out at around 200K files left (or 18%). i fixed it by switching the OS to a native mac one.

hope this helps.

10.6 isn’t really a supported os, I’ve seen some who get it to run just fine though. Unfortunately, I haven’t used 10.6 in quite some time now, so I’ll probably be fairly useless there.

Could you please post your computer model(system) plus complete specs so we could at least have a look at that, maybe Luis will pop on and help out when he can too.

Also, would you be able to view your crash log so we could get the full specifics of that crash? That would help us to figure out more specifically where you’re having problems.
