Gaming Laptop for under 1200$
I think the only way you’d find a laptop for $1200 to meet or exceed the performance of your desktop is if you spend 1600 or more.
Best prices on “gaming” laptops I’ve seen recently are from Lenovo.

Come back with a couple of options and we’ll debate which would be better.

Hello guys, I`m looking for a gaming laptop because I cannot go for Desktop because I`m travelling alot this year.
The setup I play, makes it quite easy to reach the highest graphics, since I dont play with Shadow and I dont care about how long I can see objects.
I basically want a smooth gameplay, but also the effects, like magic, casts and stuff like that on the high/highest settings.
I play 50%/50% S/T PVP and PVE.
My old PC was a i5 3570k – 8GB DDR3 – Radeon HD 7870 1GB DDR5, so if a Laptop can reach that, or even surpass the performance of my old Desktop, I will gladly buy it in a blink of an eye.
Thanks guys for your support <3
The only way you’ll be getting the performance of a desktop in a laptop is if you get a desktop processor inside a laptop case. You’ll want to look at something from here likely:

Chloe (Version 3):
[i7 930 @ 4.1Ghz (1.3875V) w/Cooler Master 120M][Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (stock)]
Well I had in mind a Sager from XOTIPC
http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_customed&model_name=NP8235
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ Processor
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M GPU with 3GB GDDR5
now the good question is, will it perform as good as my old Desktop PC ( the stats i linked on first post ) ?
Thanks again for the support.
edit: it`s a bit overgadget ( 1500 ) but if it is that sick, why not:

Likely to perform a little worse. CPU performance is within 10% but the GPU is worse, but that’s the way of laptops. Not that you’ll notice in a WvW scrum since it’s not the GPU dragging you down.

If you want performance of a recently built desktop, you’ll have to get a desktop processor inside a laptop. Something like the i5 4670(K) or i7 4770(K), not anything with ‘M’ since it stands for mobile and will be slower. The price will likely sky rocket because you’re getting the best of both worlds, the power of a desktop and mobility of a laptop. There are reasons why both worlds still coexist, its unreasonable to have the best of both worlds.
The 770M is also worse off than the 7870. The 780M is better though, so if you get a 780M and a Haswell desktop processor, you’re set. This is outside your price range though, so there isn’t anything that can best your desktop and stay within price range.

Except Ilithis the CPU benchmark database at Notebook check shows the i7-4700MQ having nearly the same performance as his desktop i5-3570K which is what he asked. He didn’t ask about a laptop with similar performance to the current top end Intel desktop CPU, just to what he had.

Yeah, you’re right he didn’t ask about how the laptop compares to the current top end Intel desktop CPU, he asked what would meet or surpass his desktop in performance. Whether he meant performance in general or performance in Guild Wars 2, I can’t say.
If we are talking about performance in general, then you’re right.
If we are talking about Guild Wars 2 the 4700MQ has worse single thread performance though, depending on the benchmark its anywhere between 6-11% worse. I was wrong when I said any mobile processor would be worse, the 4800MQ, 4900MQ and 4930MX are better single thread performers than the 3570K and better suited for Guild Wars 2. This is at stock clocks.

And that’s why my initial post low-balled it by saying that laptop’s CPU is within 10% of his desktop. And also why I broke it up between CPU, close in performance, and GPU, no where near in performance. Both sides of the equation needs to be judged independently first before you can draw conclusions about the two halfs together. At least that’s how I would look at laptops. Personally the idea of a good gaming laptop, equivalent to a nice desktop rig but at an affordable price just makes me facepalm because I’m a realist.
The GTX 780M is a nice call but like the mobile CPUs you listed, laptops that include those and/or the 780M will cost more than his $1200 budget.
