Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
I have a logitech performance mx mouse. I set a gaming profile in setpoint and setup each mouse button to corresponds to a keyboard letter which is used in the game. Works fine.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
The game is wacky with extra mouse buttons, it works flawless if your mouse have it’s own software to bind extra keys though.
Yeah, I’m using the steelseries software included with the mouse. Normally works fine, but seems to be disabled when gw2 runs. Example: binding a mouse button for push-to-talk works perfectly when gw2 is NOT running. As soon as i run gw2 the push-to-talk no longer works

My mouse is rather old and in need of a replacment tbh..which ill be getting next year but…probably a Cyborg RAT MMO7 (by MadCatz)
Logitech G5,
I got the side buttons (2 to be exact) set for auto run, and dodge. No problems since launch.

I am currently using the Cyborg MMO7 and the key binding works perfectly. I think as Panderp mentioned, it may be because of the external software used to bind the keys.
I’ve used the same software for every game and never had a problem. It’s the software from the steelseries

GW2 doesn’t recognize anything except actual key presses on the numbers 1-0 for your skills and/or other keybinds. I tried binding my macro keys on my G110 and it wouldn’t activate any skill, cos the game specifically only activates them if it receives the command from the keyboard numbers ):

Logitech G700 here.
Direct binding ingame doesn’t work.
Alt-tab and coming back ingame while the logitech crap is in memory makes the keyboard unresponsive (have to reboot game).
The solution in my case is to bind the keys inside the logitech software, save the profile in the mouse internal ram, kill the logitech process, and finally bind again my keys ingame from the mouse.

So stop running the program once i have set my keybinds? How do i ‘save the profile to mouse internal ram’?

Saving profiles in mouse ram is a feature of my mouse, it’s very possible you don’t have this feature on yours.
However, it was just an example to show you how complicated it could be.
In your case, just binding keys in your mouse software and re-bind them ingame should work. I have to kill setpoint because of an incompatibility between setpoint/gw2/keyboard
MX 518 here, no setpoint needed to get thumb button work.

I highly doubt there will be any direct binding ingame, Anet doesnt want the game to play any easier than it already is probably. If they do allow “direct binding” then if one has a better mouse, they “might” have a better advanatge over someone who doesnt.
This is a highly questionnable stance, as it has been the same in every multiplayer game :
you gain an advantage with additionnal mouse buttons,
you gain an advantage with a laser mouse vs a ball/optic one
you gain an advantage when you have a 16/9 monitor and your opponent only has a 4/3
you gain an advantage when you play in 1920*1024 and your opponent plays in 1024*768
you gain an advantage when you play on your gaming rig and your opponent plays on an obsolete computer
you gain an advantage playing in the night when others have to play facing the sun,
And on, and on, and on.
Come on, we are playing on computers, and we all have different hardware.
If Anet wanted us to play on the same hardware and have no advantages, they should have released this game on playstation/xbox (something tells me it was planned then abandonned).
