Recently, and this just started happening since yesterday.. If I have GemFX in the GW2 folder.. my game won’t even load at all.. it instantly crashes on the part right before I can even login.

Has anyone else experienced this yet?

Yeah I seen that, but that was related to the client not initializing.

My problem is due to GemFX not even letting the game load at all. Meaning as soon as I load GW2.exe .. it crashes immediately before I can even press login.

It’s because you have enabled some feature in GemFX that isn’t supported in Dx9.
Godrays and 2 other – uncheck it and game will load

Ok then explain why it was working before, yet I changed absolutely nothing in my GemFX settings, or even on my GW2 game at all. Even with a fresh install of GemFX it still crashes my game.

I don’t know, you didn’t mentioned that it were working before…
Mine is up and working, no -autologin needed after AN fixed the launcher they’ve creeped out somehow. GL!

Because it’s not ANet’s responsibility to make sure a 3rd party injector like that works.

my sweetfx working perfectly after the recent fix patch.

not sure abt gemfx, gemfx is still too new and might contain bugs

Have you ever thought that ANet might be trying to make GW2 completely incompatible with SweetFX and GemFX on purpose?

Seeing more of these patches knock out those two might be trying to get a hint across.

Have you ever thought that ANet might be trying to make GW2 completely incompatible with SweetFX and GemFX on purpose?

Seeing more of these patches knock out those two might be trying to get a hint across.

Just my 2 cents though.

I think they officially said they have no problems with people using it. Cant find it now but I am pretty sure.

Even though they are just injectors, the graphics dept. probably feel insulted and want to prevent players from “enhancing” the work they did.

With that said, it might not be ANet per se, but might be the graphics dept.

I wouldn’t go that far saying they are actively trying to break it but it isn’t their job to make sure add ons like GemFX and SweetFX are still compatible. If it is, great, if not, not their problem.

It’s not worth anyone’s time at ANet to worry about making third party programs fully compatible or partially compatible. If they had the time to do that, they’d spend it on fixing other issues or enhancing features.

If you use gemFX or sweetFX, be prepared to troubleshoot issues after GW2 patches. They will work eventually, as someone figures out what changed, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll do so right away.

That’s right, it is not their responsibility, but if they don’t want a big amount of players quit the game because of it’s “so happy unicorn rainbow poo” graphics, they better let us use these shader injectors

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect ANet to engineer their product to be compatible with software over which they have no input.

Okay, let the game crash when Fraps or any else recorder applied, or TS3, or any other application like MSI Afterburner, optimizers, etc…
Whatever keeps people playing & spending money on their products seems to be a reasonable task to work on.

TBH I just can’t accept the original graphics anymore, the “happyness” of it makes me sad. Yep, I’l really unique/weird…

Guess what! SweetFX still works fine. Go try that. I agree, it is not Anet’s job to support every or even any third party program that they do not themselves acknowledge they will support. It is up to the developers of said third party programs to adapt and make their software work with other software. I think you grossly misunderstand how software development and deployment works.

If they are not going to officially support it (as they have said) and it will not cost them anything short of these forum threads, what would they possibly gain by purposefully TRYING to make it not work?

I think the fact that OTHERS in plenty of threads have gotten gemFX to work in some manner kind of proves your conspiracy theory incorrect, but please feel free to think whatever silly ideas pop into your head…..
