So…. due to my main machine having issues, I’ve been attempting to run the game on an older one. All that happens, however, is the game will open a full screen window for a split second and then close. I don’t even know anymore if this thing CAN run the game, but I figured I’d ask.

Windows Vista SP1
Intel Core2 Duo E7300 @ 2.66 Ghz 2.67 Ghz
3g Ram
Intel Integrated G33/G31 Express Chipset Family 286 mb
1600×900 display
I’ve downloaded the 32bit client since this is 32bit

Am I really just boned for a while?

You could ask the Tech CS Team, but it might be the graphics card, and not enough RAM, as well.

Good luck.

The CPU technically would work, but it’d be pretty awful. It’s being held back by that weak integrated graphics.

You could try picking up a used card for 20 bucks on Ebay or something…. Unfortunately choices are limited due to the 32-bit system.

I would have taken a look on the ram. 2 GB is minimum, but vista is a hog itself. The min for ram might have XP in mind.

It’s really, really not that much of a difference.

You can run it on 2 gb even if it is not the best idea. It will stutter and crash eventually but it won’t cause it to refuse to run unless you have tons of stuff running. Vista uses as much as 7 does mostly and I did it on 7.

It doesn’t matter anyways because one would have to change to the 64 bit version to take advantage of more ram and vista is no longwr supported….

Given the cost of a new os and ram, and the age of the computer itself, there is no real reason to bother upgrading at all, besides something cheap off ebay.

On 3 GB ram i’d say a 500 MB of ram i’d sat 500 MB is not a small difference.

Try running GW2 windowed and not full screen.

Vista does not use 500MB of RAM more than XP did.

I think it actually did.

XP only requires 64 mb of ram and recommends 128, while vista’s minimum is 512 and that is certainly not enough. IIRC, 7 and Vista would take about a gig up front.

Anyhow, as I stated before, even 2 gb will run and low settings. The requirements were not made just for XP in mind. By 2012, XP was already on its way out and 7 was the dominant system (still is). The reason why Vista gets remembered as a memory hog is because while there was definitely a lot of wasted resources, however, it’s also because 1gb of ram was a lot when it came out. Windows 7 actually had higher requirements, but by that time computers had caught up, as well as fixing vista’s problems.

But again, this isn’t really isn’t relevant as it’s unlikely the ram is the problem, and also the hassle of getting more ram and a 64-bit system is probably not worth it.
