Any way to buy the game as a gift? Maybe a code for the digital download? Or would I have to look for a retail box?

You can buy the digital download and send them the unused serial number you receive. Just make sure you don’t register it and make an account, let them do that. Then all they have to do is register and download the game.

Yup, JT is right on the money. I have done this very thing and my giftee has had no problems.
