Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my GW2 client. Every few minutes I have one of the following issues with my graphics
- the screen freezes for about 5 sec, turns black for about 5 sec, then the issue seems fixed and it runs again for a few minutes. Client keeps running
- the game crashes and the graphic card tells me it had to end the client. windows still works. PC restart possible
- the game crashes and the graphic card tells me it had to end the client. whole screen is set up wrong. Power turn off needed here.

I did not play about half a year but I never had issues back then. Is this a know bug with my GPU? Please help me fix this, it really is annoying. I’m just about to quit GW2 again after 2days…

My settings:
CPU: Intel Xeon 1230v3 3.3GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Win 8.1 64bit

Sounds like your video card is on it’s way out. I just replaced mine.

When I was playing it would sorta crash making pixels appear in the game then it would go out of the game and come back in. All fine again.

Nvidia driver kept saying it crashed and restarted.

Try updating you Drivers first. Does it happen with other programs or games?

Sounds like your drivers might need to be updated. My GW2 gets buggy when I don’t have the latest drivers installed, especially after new patches. Check and make sure you have the latest drivers for your GPU and then see if it keeps happening. You can use Nvidia’s Geforce Experience to see if you have the latest drivers.

Or as DragonFlykm said your graphics card could be on the way out. Does it tend to overheat a lot? Does your screen black out occasionally whilst running programs? Any pixelation when running programs? Lines through the screen?

Keep us posted! Hopefully it’s not having to replace the card! The GTX770 is an expensive replacement unless it’s under warranty.

I’m actually thinking there is a Nvidia graphics driver issue with GW2. A couple weeks ago started getting an issue where windows gives message the display driver stopped. Get black screen or just a momentary freeze in game, then it recovers. This was first on a PC with a GTX 660Ti card (windows 7), and now on a new PC with GTX 780 card (windows 8.1). This is with running the latest drivers. Happened again tonight, middle of WvW fight, so figured I’d check and see if anyone else had posted similar issues.

Running a radeon card & experiencing a lot of screen freeze at the moment.
