Graphic Issue
I see a lot of people having issues with ATI graphics when they have their Render Sampling set to Native. Try setting to Subsample to see if it fixes the issue. You can also try upgrading your graphics card drivers here, but so far it hasn’t made a difference: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Being you have a laptop (That is a laptop graphics card, that’s how I know), I would steer away from setting the Render Sampling to Supersample as it will lower your FPS and run your laptop hard.
Thanks, just setting to Subsample doesn’t make a difference, but having that and setting resolution to 1080X720 gets rid of the problem.
Is there anything else I can try?
Unfortunately I own a Sony Vaio and despite I can download the latest ATI drivers I cannot install them because of compatibility issues….
I would just sit it out for a bit and keep an eye on ATI updates. What’s your Operating System and Service Pack?
Thanks again, I keep a look on ATI updates.
I have Windows 7 (Version 6.1, Build 7600).
What helped me (ATI user as well) was going into catalyst control manager, and double checking to make sure that all 3d settings have "application managed’ checked. This siginificantly increased my fps, as well as fixing 90% of my graphic issues.
You might want to check the Windows driver config and make sure that it’s configured to “Use Application Settings” for the various options. Sometimes, having other settings can cause artifacting and texture corruption. That may not be the issue in this case, since changing resolutions seems to fix the problem, but it’s something to look into.
As for drivers, you may never be able to install the generic ATI drivers on your Vaio. I have a Lenovo (IBM ThinkPad) laptop with an ATI graphics chip, and the ATI driver installer will not recognize the graphics chip. It seems that the only graphics drivers I can install are ones I get from IBM/Lenovo. So you might need to check Sony’s website for driver updates.
Thank you all for the inputs. Tried to play around with the Catalyst and Windows settings but no improvement, the artifacts remain.
Probably the only way to fix this is updating the drivers, but on Sony website last drivers available for my laptop are 2010 (laptop was bought last year).
The inability to update the graphic drivers are actually a major issue, which for sure will affect the manufacturer choice for my next computer.
