Guild Wars 2

I just logged into guild wars 2 for the first time in a few days, when i got one there are weird shapes on the screen. I don’t know how to describe it so i will just post a picture. any help someone might have to get me back in the game would be very appreciated.

First, try a simple reboot to make sure it isn’t some fluke glitch. Then pop open your PC, take a can of compressed air and blow out any dust bunnies around your graphics card’s and CPU’s fans (overheating can cause graphics cards to flip out like that). If that still doesn’t work… it may be time to invest in a new graphics card.

Thanks for your input, but i did a reboot didn’t work and i tried some other games and found that gw2 is the only game i have that does this so i don’t think its the graphics card.

My game is also messed up in the launcher.

Your drivers are from 2010 and with that laptop, you will want everything on low settings and you might get 30fps out of it. That system is at the very low end of the requirements for this title.

Update the drivers.

If the game was working, then it stopped all of a sudden, I think that the game isn’t compatable with your graphics card anymore. I think this is something that should be fixed by arenanet.

they changed the way the game looks. Thats the new graphics XD. Haha just kidding. Thats really weird make sure your drivers are up to date

When i go to device manager and go to display adapters and update driver software, it tells me that windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.

This is because 2010 is the most recent Microsoft driver build. These are elementary level drivers that the OS supplies to get your hardware working on a basic level, they are not optimized for gaming whatsoever. You need to go to your GPU manufacturer’s website and download the most recent driver build from them for your hardware.

i have this same problem. I have not been able to play the game at all besides make a character. I sent a ticket to guild wars about this and i am on my 3rd day of waiting for a response. In the mean time I have done much research. Boctroy and I have ATI Mobility graphics cards which mine is switchable (not sure about his) and you cannot update the graphics driver to the most current for laptops with switchable graphics. This is very frustrating and I am planning on calling AMD first thing Monday to hopefully get the game to look the way it should so I can play it.

I have the exact same problem with the launcher and all also while looking at your computer mine and yours are almost the same the only difference is yours is dv7 and mine is a dv6 i have been searching for ages for a way to sort it out .I hope somebody has found a way to fix it.
