Guild Wars 2 becoming more unplayable

What are the graphics cards on both of those computers? Out of curiosity. e.g., are they both Nvidia cards?
How big is your Gw2.dat? That sounds a lot like the symptoms I had when my Gw2.dat had gotten huge and fragmented. Deleting it and letting it rebuild cured the issue for me. Note that when you delete it you’ll lose the email and password from the launcher, so make sure you know what they are before you delete Gw2.dat.
Right click the Guild Wars 2 application and select “Show Package Contents”.
Navigate to: Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > GW2 and then delete Gw2.dat.
Also if you delete the .dat you will have to redownload the entire client again, which is around 20GB’s of data. Worth pointing out since for a lot of people that’s a) going to take a long time and b) use a large chunk of data allowance.
Mid 2012 rMBP here.
Updated to Yosemite OS, screen tearing like those in OP are quite frequent in GW2 now.
Game took me over 5hrs to download last year for the first time…. My one issue I have with graphics that led to many crashes last year was the map, the panning seems very inefficient on memory, naturally as the map’s 2D and the fancy zooming can lead to distorted colours on the map especially if I’ve been logged in a long time, the actual game itself is rare to get graphic glitches though, did recently have some after the map went funny so I wisely closed the game rather than push the thing to crash.
Having said that gaming moderately’s not a bad thing and playing more than a couple of hrs each sitting’s maybe too much anyway ^^. Yosemite any good? So they really gave up on big cats? Still a Lion, haven’t heard good things about Mavericks so staying put.
Mavericks was a decent improvement on Mountain Lion. Yosemite is beautiful, but there is some UI lag (it’s not obtrusive, just a bit annoying to have the volume notification thingy pop up 5 seconds after you’ve pressed it) and things don’t quite work perfectly yet. I’m still really bitter about them no longer using cat names. Actually I’m mostly bitter that they’re using Californian places as OS names on a worldwide OS.
Seriously, every mac user playing GW2 should really install Windows on bootcamp, it’s incredibly 100 times powerful ! After 2 years playing on Mac, I recently installed it on Windows because it was really painful, and “waw !”, just do it ! :p

Yes it is much better on windows. But not everyone has windows, has space for windows, wants windows, can afford windows etc.

Absolutely, my post only focus on those that can, want or already have windows installed and wonder how much better it is
