I click to start GW2, but on the client I get a message:
“The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server. Please restart your client and try again. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support for assitance at http://support.guildwars2.com

I’ve been playing perfectly fine a few days ago. Please help, thanks.

Please run the “game adviser” located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3236883

and instead of opening a ticket at this moment, just attach the file in a reply.

Thanks.

I can’t say for certain, but I’ve seen a few other European players having a lot of packet loss across the internet going to NCSoft.

As you can see its very high packet loss across the board. Now a few things to take into account. Pathping uses protocols different than GW2 so its not an exact 1:1 match. But it does show some issues may exists.

You may want to look at pingplotter: http://www.pingplotter.com/ and plot to 206.127.159.108
If you can change the ports, try ports 6112 and 6600

You shouldn’t have to buy it, I believe they do offer a freeware version without all the bells and whistles.

Something else to try; while I doubt this may help. I’ve never had any connection issues, the only thing different than other users in the states, is I use google’s DNS servers.

Nope, as no one is providing information. I’ve not seen any ping plotter statistics. Only can go off the pingpath which says the internet is having massive packet loss across that route; that data is not 100% reliable.

I’m glad you found a work around.

However, it doesn’t make sense that ANET would “block ISPs” just for downloading the latest patch, but still allows authentication.

I am having the exact same issue.
Game was working for me yesterday, today no. I have made no changes to my computer, have run the game with -repair (which itself generates the error though seems to validate the files anyway), have tried running all the usual virus/malware/adware scans. All to no avail.

It appears the glitch is with the launcher itself.

However, it doesn’t make sense that ANET would “block ISPs” just for downloading the latest patch, but still allows authentication.

It could be the great firewall of china(Country based Source Blocking), or maybe a country is attacking Anet servers and their IPS is kicking off to block it. That would be the only ‘open’ blocks I can think off related to this comment.

hey before I tried pingplotter, I did what tyria did and for some reason, the problem was solved and I was able to continue through the patching. So odd
