Guild Wars 2 takes me to black screen.
I get the same thing. When I close out the window it says that an error has occurred and asks me to submit it to ArenaNet. and I do.. each time… Maybe computer not compatible… dunno.. definitely keeping an eye on this post for a response.
Hi Mandy and Thornton,
Sorry to hear you’re having problems. Please file a customer support ticket and submit your system’s info.
Go to [Apple menu] > About this Mac, then click “More Info…”
On the next window, click “System Report…”
Select: File > Save and then save it to your desktop.
Attach this file to your support ticket, and please include “Mac Black Screen” in the subject line.
Thanks!
Having the same problem
Similar issue, though mine crashes right after.
Similar issue. I go to black screen for a sec then crash. I had it pop up with the send error report window once. But that was only once…
the same here, it said seriour error, black screen, and quit…
Ok so I was really excited to get this game on my mac. Not too sure this is a known problem. The game installed fine, I press play and it goes to the world selection page just moving the mouse slightly causes it to go into the black screen. I have to then restart the system.
Some info on the mac.
15-inch, Mid 2010
Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 288 MB(is indicated but I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M in my specs as well)
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Exception: c0000005
A serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.
I updated to mountain lion and it seems to working fine now. I was using snow leopard when I had the black screen and crashing problems.

Heard that mountain lion is not that great… still thinking if i should upgrade it or not
Are you seeing this black screen immediately after starting the client, or after logging into the launcher and pressing “Play”?
Thanks,
Devon
After I hit play on the launcher, my screens go black, and my machine reboots.
Here is some background on this issue:
1. I have been playing GW2 using boot camp on my machine for ~2 weeks.
2. When I was in Windows 7 on boot camp, the same problem happened. Click play from the launcher, screen went black and the mac rebooted.
3. I was able to stop this behavior by disabling both of my external monitors using Windows display preferences. One monitor is a 27" Thunderbolt Display, the other is a Samsung display using the thunderbolt to DVI adapter.
I suspected at that point, that it was a thunderbolt driver issue as the game launched fine as long as the external displays were enabled.
When the issue re-apperared on using the mac client, I physically unplugged both external monitors thinking this would solve the issue.
Unfortunately this did not solve the problem and I can not play the game using the Mac client.
After hitting the login button, i can click the play button.
the launcher shut down and a black window popped up.
It lasted for few second until an error occurred.
Exception: c0000005

Then it closed down.
After running the first time with error, there is no more errors popping up and the black screen closed on itself.
I dont have my spec right now. but i am using OS 10.6.8

Just wanted to update that I decided to get Mountain Lion. Now the game takes me to the world selection screen, I am able to scroll a little before the error screen appears asking me to hit any key or allow the macbook to restart on it’s own.

I’m also having the same problem on a MBP running 10.6.8, I can confirm the game does run it just takes often many attempts to launch the program. After logging in and clicking Play, the message comes up “Exception: c0000005
A serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.”
It is still possible to play I just have to start the program enough times :S. It’s strange that the client worked perfectly the day the mac beta launched, this only happened the next day.
Exact same problem as Lucid, here. :)

If you are running 10.6.anything, it’s not supported. It may work, it may not. All they will tell you is to upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion, if that It may work then, it may not.
Can we get an update on this? Same problems, zero answers. I know people have filed tickets (i filed one myself) but i’ve heard zero public response. If there has been, does anyone know the post?
Thanks
Kojak
I have been running GW2 on my mac for a few weeks on 10.6.8 and it worked fine until a few days ago. The client opens and loads perfectly fine, then the game launches full screen (although its displaying like it was 4:3 ratio, it used to take up my entire 15"), and I get the GW mouse, but the rest of the screen stays black.
I just now updated to Mountain Lion and found I am still having the same problem. Running 10.8.2 the game is still having the same problem, which is very frustrating as I was hoping to play Trixx’s events.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

check this out, it worked for me!
Getting this error now a year down the line while in the middle of the game? has been working fine until yesterdays update, never crashed now has crashed up to 10 times in one night, ticket submitted and i have a copy of the system info ready to be e-mailed to you as well.
There is an acute issue with the Mac client since the patch on 2014-03-18.
There is another thread on this Ookmanchu.
This is a known issue that ANet is trying to fix, so expect a hot fix as soon as possible.
