Thank you Kohlteth.3715 and StinVec.3621 for your help.
I have now verified ports 80 and 443, attempted to repair the files, ensured that my DNS is not static on TCP/IPv4. (and TCP/IPv6, for funsies.) I’m going to run two more tests for ports 6112 and 6600 and be unsurprised when it still fails, but thank you so much for the help you’ve given me. I’ll edit this post from here on out to keep the post count down I suppose.
Edit: I continue to be underimpressed. 6112 and 6600 show no promise, I bounce between the error codes 7:11:3:191:101 and 58:11:5:535:101 like the middle ball in a newton’s cradle. Prayers go unanswered; the creator has better things to solve than packet errors for GW2.
tl;dr
If you purchased this game within the last 30 days, return it for your money back, or learn to enjoy playing in 5 minute increments and being okay not advancing the personal story.

Sounds to me like you need to contact your ISP and get them to investigate as you say everything works until you fire up GW2, like you are tripping some kind of throttle when you connect using them.
What ISP do you have ?
If you smart people, you should /w your ISP if lose internet connection.

This connection issue is getting on my nerves, slowly but definitely.
First: I keep having a decent download speed while reinstalling. I tend to wipe my computer 3-4 times a year.
Then: After a while, let’s say 20-30 mins, I lose my connection to Anet server (first time) during this installation. Before this happens, my download rate has been going down steadily towards sub-zero. After 20-30 secs it reconnects client but my DL rate is not as high as it was before dc. Again it starts going towards sub-zero steadily and disconnects. But this time is a gamble; reconnect or no reconnect. Usually no.
This is now my 4th (or 5th) time I’ve launched the exe with and without "-clientport" handle. This has nothing to do with my ISP, that’s been checked. Even my router works steadily while GW2 client is disconnected. My network works like a charm. Only thing that gets disconnected is GW2 client.
Funny thing: Imagine that you have 21 Mb connection. Your DL is 2048 kbs. Then you get disconnected and client reconnects. Now your DL is somewhere between 3/4 and 1/2 of that original you had. Now you reconnect again after a bit longer dc. Again, you get speeds between 3/4 and 1/2, but that counts down from your *latest* speed you had. And so on. And so on.
That is what happens with my client until it can’t reconnect because my DL speed is so kitten low that it takes million years to get ~256kb file.
WHAT??? Exactly.
EDIT: Added two png’s from the process. It keeps getting even lower than that in second picture and then disconnects. Alternatively it will jump up to ~500 kb/s for a brief moment before dropping to tens of kb’s before a long dc.

Yeah same here im downloading the game downloaded 230k files fine only got 2 k more files now keeps saying connection lost wtf anet fix this

This issue is suddenly affecting me, after 2 years of no issues. Yesterday the game was fine, and now today my net suddenly dropped, laptop lost net too. I rebooted router and modem, logged back in, with 3 minutes internet was gone again. About to try again to see if it is still happening. ( Still happening….)
Haven’t changed a dang thing since yesterday, I guarantee 100% this is something Anet knows about and just doesn’t want to admit to.
I’ve done everything that this thread recommends btw, and it’s still happening. I also called my ISP, they ran several tests, they said it’s something with Anet’s servers.
Having the same problem. I get as far as selecting my character to play and wait on it to load, then it errors. And when it closes I see my internet is down too. I can play the original guild wars or any other game all day and not even lag or skip a beat, but guild wars 2 kills my connection. But I see that they have yet to respond here in the 3 years worth of complaints. You would think they would have figured something out by now. If this were a free game like some of the other MMOs out there, then no biggie, but we paid for the game and for items in the game. So the least they could do is try and figure this one out.

I just experienced this twice: PVE Story mode – “Light in the Darkness” mission. I get to one of the last talks with the Pale Tree (just before the final fight) and -BOTH time, at the exact same spot – I get disconnected from my wifi.
Like others, I thought that it was just my wifi (which usually is pretty stable). However, for it to happen twice in the exact same spot in the mission story (and then finding this forum with everyone complaining), I suspect that it’s the game.
Lots of replies on the issue, but are any actually listing the resolution? Any word from Arenanet?

Yeah, i got same problems too. Some times i have to restart my comp. Gw2 disablin my wireless. its been there this prblem more then 6 months
