Hello friends.
The last week or so my internet has been playing up.
What happens is that when I load up guildwars, get in game, it will disconnect. This happens at random, however, it’s getting worse and happens more and more often almost as soon as I enter the game.
When this happens, I am unable to load webpages, unable to log back in, unable to use the internet basically.

I then use the ‘repair’ function to try and fix it, sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn’t.

It usually slowly comes back on 5 or 10 minutes after disconnection, but once I load guild wars up, it fires off again.

I’m not very tech-savvy, so any and all help is appreciated c:

Thank you.

This is happening too conviently after the patch and to too many people. I think it is on their end, not yours. It’s possible, but I have tried so many fixes and none work. I have the same problem as you.

I have flushed my dns, I have done so many things on my end that it is getting to the point that the only option is to uninstall guild wars and leave it behind as a game that just is not worth the cost or aggravation.

i think what people need to start doing that have these issues post there internet router brand and model. and see if there is a common issue. it might be a particular brand my be causing issues or needs a firmware update.

i forgot what router i owned in the past i was having issues with a certain game. i got a new router and it fixed all my issues. now im not saying go buy a new router but lets see if there are firmware updates that might help you or a certain brand that might be causing the problem.

alot of ISP bundled modems are total garbage, they have very limited NAT tables and often the cpu inside simply cannot handle the amount of data being pushed through them while also filtering SPI packets(Firewall)

The same thing happened to me this morning…my whole internet stopped working ( I thought it was my provider or something to do with last nights snowfall)
I managed to play smoothly for for most part of them morning and afternoon, but now I have extreme lag , everything freezes and continuous disconnections.

Speed test says Connection is normal and pingtest rates me as A

HI FXLEACH – I noticed that you’re using a wireless USB adapter which is an unsupported connection device and could be contributing to this issue. I’m curious if you still experience this problem when directly connected to your modem via Ethernet cable.

Is this something you would be able to test?

I also had issues like these in the past and for me it was also caused by the router – I had to buy a better quality one. Old and low quality modems and routers cause more problems than most people realize and especially the ones you get from ISP’s can be very hit-and-miss.

So I second the suggestion for people with these issues to start posting some more details about their connection (brand + model of modem / router, ISP, wireless vs. wired) and seeing if there are any common denominators.

Also it might not be a bad idea to try connecting one PC directly to the internet and bypass the router/modem altogether (or at least as much of this as possible) and then run GW2 on that PC and see if it still causes disconnections. If your disconnections go away then the problem was caused by one of the bits of hardware you just removed from the connection. This is exactly what I did when I had these issues in LOTRO and it’s how I knew I needed a better router.

I can tell you it is not my modem or router. I have three computers on the same network. 2 are getting disconnects and 1 is not. It all started with the patch we got today. never happened before that. But to list my hardware and isp anyways. Time Warner, D-Link DIR-628, Motorola SB6120 DOSCSIS 3.0 (I own the modem). FYI all the computers are playing at the same time and one might get dropped or the other, but not the third.

So the fix is to not use wireless USB equipment? Didn’t realize we were gaming in 2002 again… Support wireless equipment!!!!!!!!!!

my computer is connected by a usb 802.11N stick, so i doubt the stick is the issue.

The router and its packet filter(SPI firewall) might be though.
