Guild Wars 2

I am trying to download gw2 and when i start the Gw2Setup.exe the launcher opens up however it starts at 20 kb/s then drops to 0 kb/s and then repeats after a few minutes. A while ago i had the game downloaded and this same problem occurred and i deleted the game. Now i want to come back but unfortunately i still have this problem. Please help and feedback would be greatly accepted.

I’d really like to fix this problem before i go to bed so i can download the game while sleeping.

I am having this exact same problem and so is someone I know in my area. It seems to be a localized problem connecting to the servers. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

First, if you’re running Gw2Setup.exe, rename it to Gw2.exe and place it where’d you’d like to install the game, for example, C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe.

Assuming there’s something wrong with your local CDN server, right click Gw2.exe and create a shortcut. Right click the shortcut and select properties. Modify the shortcut’s target like this:

Target: “C:\ExamplePath\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80

Here are some alternate servers you can try:

Run the game using the shortcut, which will forcibly change which CDN server you use.

If the problem is ISP related however, there’s not much you can do besides trying a different ISP. A VPN might work however.

Healix. I have had this issue for the last 4 or 5 updates. Adding the “-assetsrv <IP Address>” to the end of the shortcut resolved the issue. Thank you so much for the advice!
