Doctor Loki – sPvP/tPvP/WvW Power Necro
I am seeing numerous message on my email inbox saying that locations in China are trying to gain access to my account:
IP Address: 118.76.121.15
City: Gaoping
Region: 24
Country: CN
IP Address: 118.79.28.161
City: Taiyuan
Region: 24
Country: CN
Now, I can assure you that I do not live in China…so what gives?? When I try and block these sites, If I try and deny access I get an error:
Failure
An error occurred with your request.
So has your data been compromised?? How are people in China getting my log on details? I can assure you I do not goto dodgy sites and give them my logon details for GW2, so the obvious answer is you have had a breach.
No, they had not. Read the threads about security – especially the one from Brian. It will explain a lot. If you had used your email AND password on other sites before, the knowledge could be from there, because other sites have been hacked.
When you receive an email for authentization, you will have only a short time to accept it. If you deny on time or if the time is running out, the access request is denied. So the error when you deny it later on – it’s just normal, because the link don’t exist anymore.
But I would suggest to change the password. It seems that one is known outside or the message for authentization would not come.
The obvious answer is that the issue is on your part.
Most likely reasons are; you either have a keylogger on your PC or you used the same login details that you used other places which has been compromised.
ArenaNet Communications Manager
Our database has decidedly not been compromised. As mentioned in this thread, this is an issue with your personal security or your account. Someone seems to have acquired your password and is now trying to get through authentication to access your account.
