Do I copy the Disc Image of Guild Wars 2 on my Mac and carry it, oh so innocent, in a USB stick, smiling at the thought of an entire universe in the palm of my hand?

I am confused by your question. Will you be taking your computer with you? If so, nothing changes. If not, you can download the client from the ‘My Account’ page located above (Top of Page).

You can copy your .dat file to something that can hold 20GB + sized files, and carry that with you, as well. If you have absolutely no way to download any files wherever you are going, you will need to copy the entire folder. Still, if there is an update, you will need access to download it, and play.

I’m assuming this is a laptop install the game befor you leave on your trip problem solved. Depending on you connection speed will determen how well the game plays without lagging also if your are going to log in from multiple locations make sure you have access to the email address you have your account was created with because you will need to authenticate for every location when the ip changes. Buying the CD version of the game is not a good idea, the game has changed so much since the game was released on disk that you almost have to download as much as you would if you installed it online. They never updated the disk version.

disc image is outdated and plus you do not need to “install” gw2.

The launcher runs independently so all you need to do is copy your current gw2 folder to a usb drive, assuming it is the same operating system (ie windows pc desktop to bootcamp windows).

if you are switching from a windows pc to osx you will need to download the mac client as windows programs don’t run in osx (unless you use parallels with a 30% performance hit)

(note that gw2 mac client performance is about 20-30% lower in osx due to the cider wrapper)
