I submitted a ticket yesterday but heard nothing. Against my better judgement, I bought a new CD key digital download this morning. I registered the new CD key to my old account email and it still says I am banned. Is this a bug or did I really just spend another 59$ just to look at a banned screen? ugh.

What did the ban message say?
I am going to guess your account was hacked and was being used to bot. If this is what happened, you will need to prove that you are the owner by providing the serial number and answering some questions. You probably lost everything, but since you were undoubtably low level it might not be a big deal. You can get a one time account roll back, but it might be best to keep that option just in case you ever get hacked again and you really need it.

Thanks Astral. I am sure I was low level since I left for deployment a couple days after launch. I guess at this point I just wait for the ticket to be reviewed. I wonder if they will refund me for the second key I bought today LOL… The message said that my account had been terminated due to botting, using macros or something like that.

Yeah, sounds like you got hacked. :/ It was a more common problem when the game first started. They made everyone make new passwords and that solved most of it. Since you were gone, obviously that missed you.
It’s the weekend and support is slower. Not even sure they work on the weekend. In general, it takes a good 24 hours to get a first response (or one business day). And then of course the back and forth emails getting your account back. I strongly doubt you will get a refund and I personally would hesitate to even try. The reason is, they are real touchy about refunds. If you get one you get a real, permanent ban. Unless you want to chance that, I would just let it go.

This information is not true. Customer Support works 24/7. They will respond to your ticket as soon as possible. With the serial codes in your possession, you should have little problem proving you own both accounts. You will probably not be eligible for a roll-back, unless your account was originally hacked after Dec. 1st, I believe, as that was the date Account Restoration was made available. If you explain everything in your support ticket, you may be able to obtain a refund. There is no reason to have to buy the game twice for one account. Read the stickies at the top of the Support Forum, and browse the answers at Support for more information. Best of luck to you, and welcome back! =)

Actually neither you nor I know if its true or not. ^^ Neither of us knows if they have full staffing on the weekends or if they have an increased workload during the weekend relative to number of people working. My comment was based on noting that the people who post on the weekends seem to have a longer turn around time. :-)

Although, it may or may not be true whether there is a reduced staff, I did want to make it clear that Support does work on the weekends. My apologies for a poor choice of words. =)

Yah, I shouldn’t have said that support was slower during the weekend, as I was basing it on observation of a few posts and guessing that they would be busier during the weekend, not knowledge. :-)

I just wanted to stop in and say thank you for your service. I hope you get GW2 up and running soon. 
Not sure if they mention before above, Anet does do refunds, so i’m sure they can help you out with your 2nd accidental purchase. Good luck.
