Q:
[Help]
Unless you know the player personally, outside the game, I’m not sure how you can determine the player’s age. They might not be truthful when claiming to be 9…or 17…or any age.
Thus, I am not sure what the best practice would be. I suppose you could report them for inappropriate language or behavior, if it happens in /say or /map chat. If it is private, I would not know how you are aware of it, unless you are participating.
Good luck.
As Inculpatus cedo said, there’s no way to determine the person’s real age. However, coming from someone who also runs an RP guild, I would advise on keeping them out of your guild on the basis that you know of them lying about at least one age, and do it in a polite and respectful manner.
If this person is not in your guild but still Roleplays in an adult manner (and this depends on what you are perceiving as adult) you can Right click & report them if this adult content is in public place.
I usually don’t mind role-players using swearing and stuff as that’s usually the ‘character’ talking and not the ‘player’ (although I tend to keep my guild’s RP language use to a minimum so not to cause offence to other players, RP or Non-RP).
However, if it’s sexually explicit RP (what is generally known as ERP), I would report anyone who is doing this out in public, regardless of their age, as I and most (if not all) RPers in Piken Square view this as a no-no in public and it should be kept private if done at all.
This advice is my own personal advice, and is not endorsed by ANet of course, so if you want an official response on this delicate matter, you could of course ask ArenaNet directly as well, by clicking Support at the top of the page.
