Hello, i got a problem. Yesterday my brother drunk too much and the police took him, its a long story, but anyway i was in a huge hurry because he was there and my mom asks me if i can get him here. I was too fast and clicked the wrong button, now i deleted my Sylvari Ranger. Im very very sad because shes gone, and my question is, can i get her back??

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s true or not. But the problem in this is that it is a player mistake (not looking at the circumstances) and those usually don’t get restored/refunded.

Your best bet would be to talk to support, top of the page. Because we at the forum can only read and give advise.

Hmm. Okay, yea i really feel so dumb but i really want her back, all my weapons and armor. I almost had my first legendary, the only thing i needed was the precursor weapon.

You have to type your characters name as confirmation that you want to delete them. Since you confirmed that you wanted to delete them, support won’t help.

I will have to agree. Typing in a character’s name for deletion isn’t something one does as a mistake when in a hurry. CS isn’t able to restore a single character, and brothers never qualify as a reason for using the ART tool. Sorry for your loss.

You have to type your characters name as confirmation that you want to delete them. Since you confirmed that you wanted to delete them, support won’t help.

I have never deleted a char, so I don’t know the process. If typing your name is valid (and I trust the member that said so), then it took more then one action. And I will have to agree with the other posters.

Yeah….having a hard time buying that you accidentally could type in your MAIN’s name to delete it. Open a ticket and good luck getting Support to roll back your account.

Well thats the problem, i didnt typed a name at all, i forgot to say it. Must be a bug, i understand that im dumb to delete it, but i didnt typed the name?!

Ok, so what button did you click while rushing off to help your brother? Maybe that information will help solve the mystery.

At the character select screen there are, at most, 3 buttons to choose from….Play, Create, Delete. Were you trying to Play a character in your rush to leave, and hit Delete instead? Or Create a character? Did you, perhaps, leave the game running, unattended, while you were away helping your brother? Maybe someone else, then, with access available, deleted your character.

I have to say, I’ve never heard of anyone mentioning a character being deleted when selecting Play, nor of a character being deleted without affirming that choice by typing in said character’s name.

I’ve deleted characters. You first have to hit the delete button, which opens up a panel. You then have to type in the characters name and then hit accept. If you didn’t go thru these steps then you didn’t delete a character.

If the character is actually gone without you deleting them then one of two possibilities occurs to me. One is that someone else accessed your account and deleted your character. The other is some sort of bug, which is possible but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone report this before. so, it was someone in your home, your account was hacked, or it’s a bug. Its most likely a hacker or someone in your home, rather than a bug.

If it’s a hacker, you need to check the security of your computer and change the password. If it was a family member or ‘friend’, there is nothing support will do about this. You will need to turn off ‘remember password’ or change the password.

If it was a hacker or a bug, you should contact support.

All the fancy stories in the world won’t change the fact that you must confirm the character’s name upon deletion. It sounds like you just have regrets doing this, and are making up fabulous stories to get sympathy for your situation. However, the Support team will most likely say something along the lines of “sorry for your loss, but we do not undo player mistakes”.

I only see 3 ways your character could have been deleted given what you have shared.

1) Least likely – In your haste to rescue your intoxicated brother you went to the character select screen. You clicked delete and due to your distress over your in intoxicated brother you typed the full name of your character and then clicked confirm.

2) Slightly likely – You rescued your intoxicated brother and took him back to your residence. Having rushed to rescue him you left your game on the character select screen. You went to the bathroom and your intoxicated brother decided to be mischievous, clicked delete character and then typed in the name of your character to confirm deletion.

3) Most likely – For some reason unknown you decided to delete your character. You clicked the delete button and then typed in your character name to confirm deletion. At some point you decided you regretted this decision and this is where we were introduced to your intoxicated brother.

No matter how it panned out you will most likely have to deal with the loss of your character as you were not hacked. I’m an alt-aholic and have probably deleted over a dozen characters and not once was I able to do so without typing in the name of my character and clicking confirm.

I guess it is a good thing my brothers and sisters all live in different states. It gives me an added layer of security.
