Q:

Hey guys, so I’ve been having this problem ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (Realized now it was a big mistake). I noticed that whenever I’m in a teamfight or in and after a laggy situation, there would be a bit of delay with the camera rotation. Sometimes up to a second. Like when I mov my camera to any angle, it would take a while before the game reacted.

-I already have KB 2908279 installed.
-I tried Windowed Fullscreen.
-Turning on/off V-sync.
-All my drivers are up-to-date.
-Realized it wasn’t net lag.

I noticed that whenever I alt-tabbed out and back into the game, the problem would be temporarily fixed for about a minute or two.

I also noticed that when running in compatibility mode for Windows 8/7/XP/Vista, the rotation lag would appear to be gone but would cause dramatic fps lag.

I understand that the game has inertia in its camera movement, but that’s not the case. I’ve played GW2 on different specs and have never faced this problem.

Specs
—————————————
-Intel Core i5 3210M (2.50GHz)
-4GB Memory 500GB HDD
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
-1366 × 768
-Windows 8.1

Thank you for your time! :)

When you updated to 8.1 did you update your drives as well there is a know bug in 8 that has to do with the curser effecting game fps 8.1 was suppose to fix this, but I think there was a video driver update to go with the 8.1 update.

Opinions are like ______ everyone has one I could
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens

Please do just this. But before updating to 8.1 Nvidia Drivers(Has to be built for 8.1), Uninstall your GPU Drivers, boot into Safemode and run DriverCleaner, then reboot and install your drivers.

This has fixed this issue for alot of ppl with this problem.

For anyone else still facing these issues, I realize I am bumping an older topic, however this was the only solution I found. So I had a very similar issue and everything I tried never worked until I did a complete reinstall of windows 8. For some reason upgrading from windows 7 royally screwed up my video card performance and even running a driver cleaner and re installing driver never helped any. Not sure if you upgraded from windows 7 like I did, but a complete reinstall might be your only fix unfortunately.

As you found out – it’s never a good idea to do an OS ‘upgrade’.

You should always do a format and clean install.
