Here’s the deal:

I have an ASUS CM 6650 Silent Desktop:
- i7 @ 3.4Ghz
- 6gb RAM
- 1Tb HDD
- GeForce GT 530 2Gb
- On a full-hd 23" monitor

And I’m not able to run the game even at normal graphic settings with decent FPS.

I want to upgrade the graphics card so I can run GW2 AT LEAST on normal settings with stable FPS, but (and I’m sorry I’m a newbie) I don’t know if the mainboard will handle a new DDR5 with PCI-E 3.0. Or the GPU memory type doesn’t matter for that case? I think the mainboard comes only with PCI-E 2.0 connectors, can i still use a 3.0?

2nd thing:
Any suggestions?
HD7770 1Gb ddr5?
GTX650 1Gb ddr5?

Thank you for your patience.

PCI -E 3 aint being fully utilized yet anyway so it doesnt matter, aslong as your mobo has the correct slots your fine. in the case of PCI-E 2 ..thats fine for current gpu’s.

A 560ti will run GW2 fine, they are also cheap, you can then save any extra money and uprgrade that card next year for a 700 series. OR you can buy a 660ti or 670 now, but be prepard for issues. GW2 and the 600 series cards are having problem with performance atm.

The gaming cards ‘really’ start at X60 ..so the 560ti, 570, 580, 590, 660ti, 670, 680, 690.

3930k 4.6ghz | NH-D14 Cooler | P9x79 Pro MB | 16gb 1866mhz G.Skill | 128gb SSD + 2×500gb HDD

I attached my mobo information.

What about the Radeon HD 7770 OC 1Gb DDR5 ?
I was checking “Tom’s Hardware: Test System And Graphics Hardware” article for gw2 and that board was well rated… even at high resolutions it had a great performance.

Will my mobo support it?

If you could swing in to getting the HD7870 your better off, that cards a beast, in that I have seen some of my friends max out GW2 at 1080p with settings to there max and still get really good frames, mostly 60+ with the occasional dips to the 40s-50s in big battles etc. An as others have pointed out Nvidia is having some issues performance wise in GW2.

So with that said I’d pick up an AMD card, also the 7770 only has 640 SPs, sure it’s stock OCed but 640 SPs only go so far performance wise, on the other hand the 7870 has 1280 SPs and is a Very solid perfomer stock or OCed almost out performs the GTX580 in benches or matches it, and OCed it almost matches the HD7950 :O. Just some food for thought.

Also is This your motherboard ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131711 If it is your be fine as it has 2 PCI-E 2.0 X16 slots.

Big difference from the GTX 660ti to the GTX 650 OC 2GB ddr5?

This is my parents desktop, I was looking for a cheap but still good card to run some of those recent games. I actually don“t need an high-end gpu.

HD 7770 OC 1gb
GTX 650 OC 2gb
Maybe HD 7850

If any of those can run the game at medium settings with stable FPS, I’ll probably get one.

Im running the 68x series with most things on medium/high. I have a few things turned down just as I like to stay in that 60fps range even during boss battles and the like.

So your 7850 or 7770 bot will work excellent.
