High end PC GW2 Lag?
I wouldn’t call this CPU high end as it still falls behind i5 2500k and I wouldn’t comapre it to i5 3570k – which still aren’t high end. as high end cpu is i7-3770k and i7-3930k :>
Well first of all reinstall drivers for your graphic card.
Check Your memory ( DDr3) if it’s set in right slots ? if u have that 8gb in Dual channel make sure to put it in right slots.
Try Oc’ing your CPU to 4,9ghz ( you can find a lot of guides online ).
Check Your program working in background – aren’t they using a lot of CPU so it can’t focus mainly on GW2.]
Also You should remember that MMo’s focus mostly around CPU and it’s capabilities, not the GPU. it’s cause by massive amount of players and information and stuff going on which makes it CPU intensive
Also Even that piledriver is a good step from AMD in creating good CPU’s it’s still not so good. It single core performance is at par with i3-3220.
This game due to dx9 uses only ~3 cores, so it makes i3 even better for it.
You can also try deleting config file in your gw2 intalation folder to reset graphic settings. I had same problem as u before with my old CPU – constant fps no matter what graphic options I could set and it was CPU fault.

I am not going to buy a new CPU.
I had a duel core AMD PC and it worked okay in low it must be another problem already reinstalled all the drivers.
I agree that there must be an underlying problem. The FX 8350 although not as strong as a 2nd/3rd Gen i5 ..is still the best single thread performer AMD has. It should be doing better.
I suspect u have a driver and/or settings issue.
Look at the stickies in this forum and follow their advice ..see how it goes.
EVGA GTX 780 Classified w/ EK block | XSPC D5 Photon 270 Res/Pump | NexXxos Monsta 240 Rad
CM Storm Stryker case | Seasonic 1000W PSU | Asux Xonar D2X & Logitech Z5500 Sound system |
Done most things now still not working is it best to format and reinstall all drivers?

If u didnt fully format and reinstall ur OS and game when u upgraded to the FX 8350 ..then yes.
It is possible to change cpu;s without reformating but it honestly doesnt take more than a days work to install an OS , programs, games. So do it from scrtach to make sure nothing could be interfering.
Save any files(like save games, pics, music ..vids etc .. not whole programs/games) u want to keep on another HDD/Memory stick or what have u ..then format.

Seems to only be using one of my cores at 50-70%
all the rest are 5-20%
If this is true how do i enable more cores being used?
Did u checked the GPU usage? may be a wrong PCI-e lane or a bus speed malfunction. Also what Motherboard and power supply u have, u gotta provide a full detailed spec of ur system. 8 core CPU consumes 3 times more than ur dualcore, also if u had that dualcore on the same mobo before there might be some kind of BIOS issue, if is all brand new forget about the last part.
U cannot enable more cores to be used for specific apps, this is why the AMD fx4300 and the fx 6300 peforms about the same than eight cores in games since games are not multithreaded aplications, they run mostly on 1 core.

I disabled core parking on my i7 yesterday, does AMD have that too?

No. It will try to force spread out a process that takes more usage across all cores on AMD.
