Usually I find these kind of threads stupid, so I just want to ask if others have the same issue since yesterday or not.

I’m playing since release (+8 years gw1) and I never had any lag / ping issues. (ping usually is ~40 in gw2)
So since yesterday evening and this morning I had 1.800 ping (average) only in gw2 and ofc it is unplayable. A lot of people in my guild have the same problem since yesterday.

I’m from germany so currently it is exactly noon here and the issue startet around 5pm CET. Yesterday evening I did some traceroutes to anets servers (~9pm CET) and it seemed that there is no issue until the DE-CIX node in frankfurt. So I think it might not be my providers fault.

Basically my question is: Are here more germans / european player that have an high ping average since yesterday?

(Ofc I will still keep annoying my provider a little bit, because ofc it could be only his fault.)
Edit: my ISP is NOT german telekom. (It’s kabel Deutschland/Vodafone)

I’ve had those issues for like 2 days now. But my ping was always at 20 or below.
But now i check its 100+. Not extremely high but i’ve checked everything i could. The thing is, I’m not from germany, also dont have a german network. But i live really close to the border so i dont know what’s messed up. I have noticed on services like Teamspeak that it locates my IP in germany.

Now it’s working fine. No idea what the cause was.

I’m having problems with high ping over here also.
Usually my ping is around 30-60, but I get random spikes to 1500 and even more. It’s so annoying to get disconected when I’m waiting for WvW queue.
Was monitoring my internet connection usage during those spikes, and both download and upload were on few kbps (I have 20/10 Mbps connection). So it’s not problem on my side for sure.

Internet upload/download speeds have nothing to do with it, it’s ping and packet loss that matter. Run pingplotter (it’s free) when you are having the issues and it will show you exactly where the problem is. There are a lot more sides than just you and Anet, there could be 6-12 or more hops your connection takes. Those hops are not owned/operated/serviced by Anet or your ISP.

I downloaded and ran pingplotter and my 1000+ ping is being caused by 64.25.32.82.ncsoft.com…just started today and makes playing impossible.

That is a map instance that has more than likely closed. You need to run it while you are actually in that map and post the screenshot here. As was posted in the other thread, 100% packet loss at that node(IP) tells me the map was already closed when you tested that IP.

When I run pingplotter it shows my signal going through 4 ncsoft ips every time. The ip I mentioned wasn’t the map I was in at the time it was the 3rd of 4. No matter what map I’m in that ip always seems to be there right above my current ip. On a side note today my pings are sub 300 so all good.

Good to hear, just remember that when using ping plotter the connection starts at your PC then works its way to the server. You cant look at the numbers at the .ncsoft without looking at the hops before it. Bad hops in the middle of the route will influence the numbers at the end of the route.

Yeah when I was having the problem yesterday, which I didn’t think to get a screen of, everything between me and ncsoft was in the green. Only 2 of the 4 ncsoft ips were in the red and far in the red at that.

The servers sometimes have network issues, I mean they connect on their end just like we connect on ours. I have been playing this game long enough to know that if the issue is on their end, they a very quick to fix it.
