What it says in the title: the “High res character textures” checkbox is greyed out and can’t be chosen. I have had this computer since January, always ran with high res character textures enabled with zero issues. I only noticed this going on today, so maybe it’s due to a recent patch, but I haven’t been actively playing that much lately so I’m not sure.
Things I’ve tried:
-Deleted local.dat
-Edited GFXSettings.Gw2.exe.xml to change the option to “true”
No effect.
My hardware:
-Windows 8.1 64-bit
-Intel Core i5 3230M 2.60 GHz
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M 2GB
-8 GB RAM
I looked around for related topics but couldn’t seem to find anything relevant (search still not working…)
Your CPU doesn’t meet the minimum requirements that they’ve recently set for high-res textures.

you need a quad core CPU to enable high res textures now.
an i5-3220m only has 2 cores.

Seriously? But it always worked fine… The only things that have ever really affected FPS for me were shadows and culling… Anet, could you not?

they disabled it, nothing can be done to bring it back. That is their final stance on this.

Hey, having same issue (last time I checked was ticked). My PC is not a gaming platform but it should have the requirements:
-Windows 8
-i7-4500U
-AMD Radeon HD 8750M
6GB RAM (DDR3)
Any advice? Thanks in advance!
Edit: Added OS

Ok thanks, didnt know about it, sorry if I didnt check. Anyways was working fine with High Res Texture, please put it back for dual core too!
i have posted 2 threads about this issues days ago and submitted support ticket.after talk with support group, they told me they didnt know about this issue until i told them and they dont have contact with graphic devs team.so it probably gonna stay this way or we could put more threads see if things gonna change.but personally i think this is really a bad idea cuz i m running on same rig with op and i have average fps 25 with all maxed out graphic setting before.so there is no need to disable this on dual core cpu.i dont need 30+fps.20+ is fine for me

Hi Chad, first of all, huge fan of your work and I can’t get over how mind-blowingly beautiful the graphics in this game are. Now, I understand the High Res Character option and Best Texture Filtering option has been disabled for insufficient CPU’s. Well I’m a little confused because I can check the latter option yet not the former. And I do believe I have a quad-core computer (unless my DxDiag tool is lying to me lol.) Here’s a picture my specs https://gyazo.com/b3a0e403771407b53c298974141a6f40 . Hope you can help me.
