Guild Wars 2

So I convinced my brother to give this game a try again after he quit in December, he was kind of hesitating as he found the game quite lacking in certain aspects, but that’s not the point. The problem is while I was playing this game I server hopped a few times and now we are split up in different servers. We can’t do WvW together and this feeling of not actually being in the same server while guesting just isn’t doing it for us.

I looked at the server transfer prices and ooh my god, it says every single server has a high population ( yeah right) and thus costing 1800 gems for a freaking world transfer.
Is this just Arena net trying to make money off of or are all the inactive gw2 player who only played the first month since release holding “space” thus making the servers highly populated.

They do this for server balance. I do agree that is far too pricey for what it is, but it is something that is necessary.

You can, of course, use in-game gold for your transfer, and by doing so, ArenaNet makes not a penny. Or, you can delete your characters and transfer for free, as well, though that is not a pleasant option for some. I hope you and your brother find a solution that is acceptable for you both. =)

There is a way to transfer for free but it would mean deleting all your toons.
When creating a new one you will get the promt to select a server for free.

Not too long ago, ArenaNet raised the server limit on servers to accommodate all the new users. It is a positive statement on the game’s growth to see that the servers are, once again, becoming full.

As far as I know stuff stored int eh bank will be still there, so if there is anything account bound he wants to keep he can use that.

The server population btw, is based off current online players and not total amount of players on the server.
