Perfectly Fine. However…
If you intend to fight in WvW you really will need to OC that CPU ..in which case it will have to be a 3570K not just a 3570.
If you have no intention to play WvW then you should be fine, you may find LionArch a bit unbarable when it gets busy but other than that you should be ok.

In that case so long as you OC it to as close as u can or above 4.5ghz You should be able to play GW2 without dropping below 30fps, asuming u keep the graphics settings set for your GPU (medium/high)

It’s not quite that simple you need a motherboard that is made to overclock and a good CPU cooler.

How critical is that 4.5 Ghz target? My new mainboard’s software has an OC preset that should take it to 4.2, which I suspect should be close enough.
In the interim, I suggest the OP check a new option that will force team colors on everyone, including your own. That’s helped a lot with mid-sized fights right now.

Dont use preset OC’s. They usualy pump for more volts than required to reach the OC it sets and thus creates alot fo heat. Do it yourself manualy and u can reach better OC’s.
You dont HAVE to hit 4.5ghz but if you want 30+ fps all the time you really need it at minimum. I run my cores at 4.6ghz and dont fall below 30 ..but it does hit exactly 30 often (granted alot of the times its due ot my GPU bottlenecking not my cpu. .but still).
Now my cpu is a sandybridge so if you have a 3570k ivybridge 4.5ghz should be the equivalent. I know 4.5ghz can be hard to reach on ivybridge without a top end air cooler however.

Noted for the OC, I’ll do some more searching on that. I’m not planning to start the swap-out until tomorrow anyway.
From what I’ve checked this is the Ivy. But, the cooler of choice I’ve seen here is the CM 212, and the one I chose (a ‘mid-range’ Zalman) is much larger than that. I’d actually use my current one (OCZ Vendetta) if I can find a kit to make it work with LGA 1155 (this one was built when 775 was mainstream).
Case size is not a factor here, I’m using an original Cosmos. <3 I’m also not against switching to a water setup (home built or premade), the case certainly has the space for it…

The Coolmaster Evo 212 is the best price:performance air cooler out, but for pure performance the Noctua NH-D14 is the best. So ether of them is fine, you will likely get maybe another 200mhz of OC with the Noctua over the Evo 212.
Just note though.. if u think about getting the Noctua ..its a beast ..i mean really …its MASSIVE. You will have to make sure ur Case is wide enough and that your RAM isnt to tall becouse honestly..its like having a powersupply sitting ontop of ur cpu ..thats how big it is :P And becouse its that big it hangs over the usual places the RAM is located ..so high profile RAM ..like alot of Corasir ones ..are just to tall. But the performance is wicked, its as good as most upper-mid range water coolers.

yea its big. D14 is like 212 Evo x2
