How do I setup dual monitor? (Mac Beta)
I imagine the process would be similar to Win7 where you’d just set a screen as your main display(in this case your MacBook default screen) and then choose to extend your screen onto the Apple TV. Then you could try playing in windowed mode with desired resolution or windowed fullscreen, but not fullscreen. I believe this setting would allow you to move your cursor out of the game without having to tab out. Lastly, you’d drag the browser onto the TV screen.
Unfortunately because of your setup, you may see a loss of performance in-game, depending on your system specs.
Also this thread may belong in the tech support or mac beta client tech support subforum.
I’m curious to know if when you get it set up if it will increase your FoV and what pathetic excuses we’ll get from Anet for not giving us a FoV slider if it does.

This post has nothing to do with FoV, but to answer your question, yes Anet is working on FoV stuff, and it’s currently in the beta.

one thing I know that would work: window mode (it’s under the graphics options). not as immersive, but it’s not bad imo.

Those FoV changes are from a year ago and they were implemented in game already.
You need to set the game to play in windowed mode to be able to use a second screen. Then you need to set your second screen as an extended desktop, not mirroring the first screen. I’m not sure AppleTV supports this, it’s usually intended to just do mirroring (extendeed screen only works if the specific app is designed to use it).

Yeah, AppleTV extends fine. I’ve done it before for other apps (since I dislike running in windowed mode).
Yeah, I did try to extend to my Apple TV in windowed mode, but I didn’t like that it drastically decreases the resolution of my screen. Looks like this is something that will hopefully get supported in later updates.
yeah, it really only works for low rez stuff like power points or tv.
I have a MacBook Pro and an Apple TV. I’d like to use the Apple TV to show the wiki and guides, but it just shows a black screen (I’m not mirroring). Any suggestions?
By the way, I like to use the Mac because I like the way the trackpad works rather than using a mouse. Plus, it has a really good display, so please only constructive info.
Why are you trying to hack this through the Apple TV? Just connect the second display to your Mac Book … and you’re done.
It’s a matter of moving the 42" TV anytime I would want to play with an additional display. My wife and I are on a tight budget, and I don’t have the luxury of spending money on another display (also, when the wife doesn’t see it as a priority, it’s not a priority).
Just trying to work with what I already have without too much of a hassle.
Buy a long HDMI cable. Leave it connected to an input on the TV and plug in to your Macbook as needed. Cheap and you won’t have to deal with bandwidth issues from trying to transmit data both to the Internet for GW and to the Apple TV.
Except that macbooks don’t have HDMI input so you’ll also have to buy an expensive thunderbolt (how stupid is that name, thunder is a sound it does not have bolts. Why is it not lightningbolt) to HDMI connector.
thunderbolt uses the same connector as the mini display port (their monitor-connector of choice prior to thunderbolt). It’s almost as good, just a bit less bandwidth; and yet it still supports up to 2560×1600 resolution, which is far more than any TV that will be available for at least another decade (blu-ray is 1920×1080)
$1 + $4 S&H mini display port to HDMI converter: http://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Adapter-Audio-Support/dp/B002HWWDAY
$8 + $0 S&H 25 foot HDMI cable: http://www.amazon.com/CNE02209-25-Feet-HDMI-Cable/dp/B00176NKPS
you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere… I just picked the first thing google spit out.

Mini display port to hdmi won’t allow you to share an internet connection though. Since mini display port is purely a display connection.
(Of course if sharing an internet connection between the two isnt a problem then yes definitely go mini display to HDMI if it’s cheaper.)
