i play GW2 on my PC at home, at work i use macs and am now buying one for home use
i was wondering how gw2 would run on these specs
3.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2X8GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
would it be worth upgrading the processor to:
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
for $200?
or should it run fine?

also should i use bootcamp and run it on windows? or is the mac beta going to be updated soon?
Should run great imho. My father is running a machine half that good and running fine. His fps is low, Probably about 20ish, but otherwise its running great on moderate settings. If his lesser machine runs it fine, I’d say that one is good.

You should run fine, I have the oldest Mac possible and no one person can answer regarding an up-grade I can get so go with the flow and you should be ok.
As for the Beta I don’t think it will ever leave beta I’m beginning to think NCsoft as well as Anet doesn’t care about the Mac as long as its an i5 or i7 they don’t care.
The graphics card upgrade is recommended, the extra power is usefull to run the huge resolution of the 27inch screen. The mobile 680MX is about equivalent to a desktop 660ti, which is the absolute minimum I’d recommend for such a huge display.
The upgrade to the i7 is optional. For gaming, only the slightly higher clock speed is relevant. The additional virtual CPU cores are usually not used by games.
I actually ordered the same machine, though also with the Fusion Drive option. Alternatively, you could purchase and install your own RAM to the maximum capacity of 32GB, and run the complete game from a RAM drive. Don’t order RAM upgrades from Apple, they are criminally overpriced, and the 27inch actually allows for user upgrades. Buy your own for a quarter of the price.
Either way, the hardware should be able to run the game nicely on OSX, but you still may want to consider Bootcamp, since with 64bit Windows you can get better texture quality options that would certainly look nicer on that screen.
