Q:
Well since I’ve been playing on my laptop for the past couple of months and I am unable to play on Medium settings without dropping my framerate to 15-20, I decided to start saving up to build my own rig. I am almost there to having all the money required, but I would like to know if this build is good? How will it run? What can I run? Any changes I need to make?
Thank you,
Herlik

Look really good but I would stay away from Windows8 if you can get 7, 8’s interface sucks and it is still not stable for gaming quite yet. You should get fairly good fps with most setting high. Also check out Microcenter for SSDs.I picked up 2 Microcenter brand drives for $89, almost positive they are rebranded Samsungs and they come with mounting brackets, Good luck with the build.

I’m still confused with this hatred towards Win 8. The interface is purely subjective, I have gotten used to it pretty well. What do you mean not stable for gaming? Can you give some reference? If this is true and has significant effect, Win 7 would definitely be worth considering. Since Win 7 support ends in a year and he seems to be getting 8 for free, I would hesitate going with 7, unless that would be free as well.
Windows 8.1 is OK. It is better then Windows 7 in most ways. You can get away from the horrible Metro UI by installing ClassicSHell (Start menu Replacement for Win8).
The only issue I have ran into are apps that run on Win7 but refuse to run on Win8 (even in Compat mode). But your mileage will very.
Hatred towards Windows 8 is purely up to the user. My Windows 8 gaming laptop has absolutely no problem playing this game. :B AND I like it! IMO it’s a terrible idea to try and steer people away from something because someone else hates it.
OP: If you’re not worried about a budget, then your spec list is absolutely perfect. I’d look at grabbing a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo if you’d want to overclock at all in the future. Stock fans are no problem and do their job as intended and supply properly ventilated computers the ability to turbo the processor and maintain acceptable running temperatures. Could possibly even make a small overclock without a voltage increase if you’re lucky. However Hyper 212 Evo (even though big) is very quiet and can supply much better cooling for air coolers. If you want to do large overclocking, I’d recommend looking into something like a Corsair H60 closed loop cooler.
Whilst I usually agree with Avelos, and visa versa …if ur ever look into AIO water coolers for the CPU, don’t get anything lower than a H100, because anything lower, like the h60 or h80 can be matched or beaten by a air cooler for less cost and be quieter with the only drawback being size.
I usually recommend the water coolers because of the overclocking ability as well as keeping the CPU cooler than substantial air coolers.
Personally, I would get a better motherboard (Asus) and power supply (Corsair). I prefer Windows 7 over 8, but to each his/her own.
