How to report a player off the game?
This is a huge issue, that someone can get your account name from a post on the forum, go onto the game itself and then message you using the account name linked with the forum itself.
Maybe a dumb question but when the person harassed you in game did you use the in game report feature? That is what you need to do in the event of harassment. Select report and choose verbal abuse from the drop down menu. Anet will take it from there and act accordingly.
I need some help, I am trying to complain about a person harassing me in game, but I don’t see a way to make a report, how can I do this?
You can report someone in-game by right-clicking on their name and selecting report. Select report from any in-game mail. Right-click on their name in chat, and select report. Contact Support (Top of page – Support) and submit a ticket to discuss the issue. Any of these can be used to report harassment.
You can report the player in game by selecting their name and using report.
Or, and I’m not sure if GW2 uses it too, type “/report playername” (without quotes), cause that used to work in GW
The very best way to report is through the in-game system. The reason is that agents monitor that live, 24/7/365, and that means that your report will be noted and reviewed very quickly.
Having said that, if you find that the harassment continues — please allow a day for things to sort out — then you are welcome to submit a ticket. Click “Support” at the top of this page, and the “Submit a request” in the upper right. Please be prepared to supply the exact spelling of the character involved, your character name, the date, time and location with timezone, and a general idea of what took place. Screenshots are not necessary — if you give us the details above and agent will review game logs.

Thank you – but what about the issue where we use the same name for our forum account as we do in game, and for someone to PM you there, all they have to do is get your name from here.
I see this as a huge problem and a severe breach of privacy, to a point it’s threatening and makes me very uneasy. I don’t know who else has had problems such as this.
It’s basically hate-mail, brought from the forum to the game, by using the same name for both the forum and game account… Can we not do something about this?
Oh, and I DO have a screen shot of the incident.
I’m not understanding the issue. You can still block and report that person, regardless of how s/he decided to pick you as a victim. I’m not seeing how it matters if someone chooses to call me names because they disagreed with me on the forum, or because they decided my Norn’s butt was too big in-game.

It’s not a breach on privacy because they have no idea about any personal information about you. Would it matter if they were harassing you because of something you said in game as opposed to something you said in the forum. Either way, you report and block. People who are going to harass will find someone and something to harass other about.

Have you considered how what you are suggesting plays right into the hands of someone that enjoys harassing others? Trying to hide your own identity works both ways.
There are plenty of tools (both here and in-game) to protect yourself from annoying players. The fact that you are overly concerned about this raises plenty of other questions (that I will not actually pursue).

Sickle, It is very easy to block someone in game. I had it once or twice and I reported and blocked them. Problem was very easy solved.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I understand what you are saying, but the whole concept of using our account name here, and in game, means people can find you here on the forum then message you there.
Yes, the clear answer is to block the person on the game. – But the source of the problem is linking your account name on the form and the game.
That is what I am concerned… I’m not hiding anything… Grimm.
The reason I am overly concerned is because this is just wrong, people can track you down too easily, just by finding your name here first.
No, the source of the problem is that people want to be jerks and so they’re going to be jerks. It doesn’t matter if they decide to send you messages because you typed something on the forums or because they asked for a gold in the game and you said no.
They’re not “tracking you down”, and there’s no privacy breach. They could as easily be sending you forum PMs as whispers in-game. If you blocked me in the game and I started PMing you here instead, would you have the same concern?

I didn’t say you were hiding anything just that what you were suggesting WOULD allow others with malicious intent the capability to do so.
Your paranoia at being “tracked down too easily”, does seem a bit suspicious now that you mention it (I’m kidding). To be honest, the fact that you CAN be identified in game by what you post here (and visa-versa) probably thwarts a lot of drama because your game account is at full risk if you step over the line too far.

See above for instructions about reporting a player for any sort of harassment or offensive behavior directed towards you in the game. You can click the “report” button here on the forums if someone crosses the line.
