Basically, I owe my former Guild leader almost 100 Gold. I want to know how to go about sending him this gold without getting a ban or setting off any red flags. Any help is appreciated.

I doubt anyone KNOWS how or what sets off the “red flags” in this area and Anet is certainly not telling. I’d just put a notation in the message (some sort of proof if you DO get banned). I’d suggest splitting it up into several smaller amounts, but I’m not sure several emails of significant gold (25g+) might not be a higher “red flag” criteria than one big lump sum…..impossible to know.

I do know that I’ve seen more than a few players posting here that they regularly send multiple hundred gold emails and have never had a problem (whether you believe them is another story).

I don’t think you can send him 100 gold at one go without getting investigated at least. You can do one of several things to minimize problems. One is send him money over time, such as 25 gold a day for four days. The second is to make sure the money you send him has an explaining note each time, such as ’I’m sending this money to you to repay the money you loaned me’. If you remember the date he loaned you money, add that. He needs to send back an acknowledging note saying something equivalent so he won’t look like a gold buyer

You might get told you can repay through the guild bank, you putting it there and him picking it up. It can still end with you or him getting investigated and banned. (I should know, I got a ‘permanent ban’ for gold selling/buying doing this that required contacting support to reverse). If you use the guild method you will still need to send messages documenting why you are transferring money to protect both you and him.

Imo the smaller amounts per day is less likely to get your account noticed as gold selling/buying. There is probably some cutoff amount that triggers an investigation.

I recommend not splitting it up and putting it in as a single lump sum with a note. You should be fine.

Thanks for the input. I’m just extra wary about this because he got banned when he sent it to me, and it was a headache and 4 days before he could get his account back. Trying to avoid this at all costs.

Just deposit it in a guild bank, he can take it from there. Clean and easy.

I suggest, small amounts over a period of time with an explaining email each time whether it’s through the guild bank or sending it by email.

Lol, that’s why we use quotes, to indicate that that is the message and designation we receive when dealing with this unfortunate happenstance. ; )
