How well does it run on AMD 7670m @ 1600x900?
Never take VAIO.
Nor Any SONY laptops.
Your overpaying a lot for stuff they have in it.
Go for MSI gaming series with 660/670m on borad and probably overall better components.
You can try also alienware ( tho they are lil expensive ).
But if u seriously want a crap VAIO then I daubt it. this 7670m scores 817 points in bench while 660m scores 1,657.
On low graphical sett you should get fine fps. but only on low.
How do i know that ? cause i got laptop with 3rd gen i5 (turbo 3.10ghz 4core )+ 540m on board (703 points) and it gets freezes/shatters on massive spell effects – and only then. I can stay in massive wvw group and have ~28-30 fps ( firendlies) untill they start even randomly cast spells >.>.
Those graphic cards “Mobile series” untill You go for 7850/7870m or 660/670m will have huge problems due to low bandwith and overall not so good cards. most cards except those mentioned above are ment for movies/youtube watching etc. not for gaming.
how much does that VAIO cost? Im sure 100% theres much better laptop for same price/less

VAIO with your " specs" I found from 940-1080$ which is lol.
here are few from MSI which are in same price area.
MSI GE70 0ND-223 17"3
Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.30 GHz, turbo 3.30 GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2048 MB
or
MSI GE60 0ND-419X 15"6
Intel Core i7-3630QM (2.40 GHz, turbo 3.40 GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2048 MB
both 8gb ram ddr3
Spell effects/ zergs would tank a mobile i5 as it only has 2 cores + hyperthreading, giving it much less power than the mobile i7 I have my eye on, which should be about as powerful as my desktop i5.
As for graphics, the problem with comparing against an NVIDIA chip is that NVIDIA likes to optimize for 3D Mark more than AMD, making benchmarking with the game a better indicator of performance.
You see, I’m not looking to optimize price/performance ratio, I simply want to know if the laptop I’m considering for its touchscreen, for my family, incidentally also performs well in GW2.
You still don’t get it do you ? this game uses 2,5 cores at max. it’s been stated long time a go.
So in between those 2 CPUs there will be not much of a difference. And seriously if u want to play gw2 in WvW on laptop your seriously dreaming.
And as i said. 7670 is equivalent of 610-650m nvidia cards which are not ment for gaming.
Minimum is 7850m/7870m.
And no this i7 is not even near of the power of deskopt i5.
this i7 is more of ivy brige i3.
except having 4 cores instead of 2 + ht.
old i3-3210 got even better score then Intel Core i7-3632QM.
don’t expect miracles.
so to sum it up. You can get this laptop and play with around 40-50 fps on low graph sett – native rend. maybe medium shaders + medium textures.
Most likely it be low graphic settings, with maybe few on medium. (See Part 2.2)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream

Low settings ..possibly a few medium. Ok for Pve.
WvW and LA will be a slide show.
CPU wise theo nly Laptop ones u want to look at are as follows.
3840QM
3820QM
3740QM
3720QM
3630QM
Bassicaly u want proper 4 cores ..2core 4 threads is OK but ur then sharing CPu performance with other tasks. Having 4 dedicated cores and 8 threads gives GW2 breathing room..not so much a problem with desktop CPU’s as they r more powerfull but deffinatly for laptop ones i would stick with i7’s.
Also clock speed is important, i honestly wouldnt go any lower than a turbo clock of 3.4ghz.
GPU wise if u want medium/high settings with good fps u will need one of the following.
Nvidia 570m,660m,670,680m
AMD 6970m,7970m
Sry its not betetr news for ya.. but GW2 hammers Laptops hard.

On board graphic cards aren’t that good. if you can, take one who has 2 Gb ram on the graphic card (hopefully ddr 5 ram), then 8Gb ram.
Thanks for the constructive answers. I figured it might be as much. I suppose it’d be good performance in that this laptop just needs to play it better than my other one. Which has a Radeon HD 5470 and manages to play just above minimum at 720p despite less power than an Intel HD 4000.
I have my desktop for the real eye candy. What’s interesting is that there doesn’t seem to be a linear graphics quality scaling with GPU power, it looks like it’s all in, or near nothing.

Well it is a laptop after all, don’t expect that you enable to put the same stuff in it like in a desktop. Parts are smaller, so more heat.
Out of all Intel’s Mobile processors. The only one that would do well on Wv3 would be the i7-3920XM:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-3920XM+%40+2.90GHz&id=901
It scores over the 2000 mark: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
However, choosing an nvidia GPU like the 670M or the 680M will set you back to the 500 series in terms of desktop power. AMD rules the mobile market in terms of GPU as such.

I dont disagree there about the 3920Xm ..but ..u try finding a laptop within a reasonable budget for a gaming laptop ($1000-$1500) that has that CPU.
Its got XM not QM on the end for a reason ..its a i7 Extreme, they cost buckets.
Just look at the price and performance difference on the Desktop ones.
The 3930k at release ~£500, the 3960X £1000 ..the performance difference ? 3mb off L3 (from 12mb to 15mb) cache and 100mhz on the stock core clock… lol.
The difference between the 3820QM and the 3920XM… 100mhz on the turbo clock and 200mhz on the stock. The price difference …double.
So anyway whilst i agree it is the ‘best’ ..its totaly not worth going to a i7 Extreme ..the prices r insane.
