Huge lag and delay
Yup, I got the exact same problem at the exact same time. Also in Belgium. Every other game works fine and the internet is as fast as it always is.
Same Problem. Other Online Games works, just in GW2 i have lag and delay. Always at Primetime.
<- Germany
Here too , from Brazil average ping was 200-250
4 days to now avg 400-800 so no WvW
LOTS of packages lost, only happening witth GW2
(edited by blinkPK.9564)
Also from Belgium and having the exact same problem, 3000-4000ms for like 10 minutes and then 22-30ms for a minute or 3 and then back to 3000-4000ms.
Same problem. Since todays patch (14.2.) the game is unplayable. Normally 40-60 ping, now I have 800-3000
<— Austria
Suffering lag since last patch; wvw is unplayable starting with 2’’ skill lag, then everything gets worse. Even chat lags. Ping is normal ~60-70. Location: spain
Video sample:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMRHYN4vJMo
same, noticed in first pvp game, had to leave which i normal never do. Ping between 1000-4000 normal around 30. Belgium.
Speedtest to local node 17.
any ddos going on ?

Huge ping spikes and general high ping in the evening in the UK here.
I highly suggest swapping ports…
-clientport 80
Instructs the client to connect to the game servers over port 80 (HTTP) instead of 6112 (commonly used for games).
Some ISPs may prioritize traffic at certain times, and some networks may block port 6112. This may be useful to avoid such scenarios.
Some ISPs, networks, and other forms of MITM attacks may modify traffic on port 80 which will lead to issues with the GW2 client if this option is used.
-clientport 443
Instructs the client to connect to the game servers over port 443 (HTTPS) instead of 6112 (commonly used for games).
Some ISPs may prioritize traffic at certain times, and some networks may block port 6112. This may be useful to avoid such scenarios.
Some ISPs, networks, and other forms of MITM attacks may modify traffic on port 443 which will lead to issues with the GW2 client if this option is used (this is less-likely to occur than with port 80).

I only had to open up ports 1 time in my life and that was for CoD’s on PC, which need quite a few ports.
I’ll just sit here and wait untill Anet sorts this out.
This problem started out of the blue 2 weeks ago so it’s not on my end. (based upon tests in other games and general ping test around to Germany, since their EU servers should be there)
Never had more than 50ms last 4 years in GW2 so it’s safe to assume problem lies somewhere at their side.
same here…. i normally play around 230 -250 ping….but sometimes my ping will go up to 600 for a few secs then go back to normal….from singapore

Same problem here and also from Belgium.

As with every other ping related post, you guys need to run pingplotter and determine where the problem is. I wouldn’t recommend waiting for Anet to fix something that probably isn’t broke. Once you run pingplotter you will more than likely see that the problem is one of the many nodes your connection passes through. If its any of the nodes in-between then there is nothing Anet can do to fix it. The routing of “your” connection to the Anet server is controlled by “your” ISP.
Also, the reason “other” games and stuff works is because those servers are located in different areas and your connection takes a different route.

Most games have their (EU) servers at the same spot, in Germany.
Certainly NC-Soft.
I’ll run PingPlotter tonight and see how it goes.
I guess I just need to /ip ingame and enter that IP in PingPlotter?

Yes, /IP in any map you are in. Use that IP as the target in pingplotter.
I’m having the same ping issues since 2 weeks. Also from Belgium.
Ping spikes up to 2000-4000 and stays that way for several minutes.
Also from Belgium, been having this issue since yesterday after I downloaded a small update. The downloading went smoothly but the client took unusually long to log me in.
Also the map loading was a lot slower and my ping was constantly around 4000-5000. It was lagging in every map I went through.
I have the same issue starting today.
The same thing is happening to me in Poland since yesterday evening. The ping tends to rise from average 70ms to 800+ms making the game unplayable. It seems to correlate with result of ping -t-l 65500 guildwars2.com. My connection appears to be stable.
Output from traceroute.

Here you go, as requested. Belgacom is my ISP
As you can see, once it reaches NCsoft ISP, it’s going from 20ms to 2000ms.
And inside NCsoft network, it also takes 2000ms each hop.
Same here, even the forums are lagging, everything not involved with ncsoft is fine.
So…what I understood from all these threads (with no dev response whatsoever) is that we’re, basically locked out of the game, and cannot do anything about it, because it’s the fault of someone that our ISP’s are hiring. ISP most likely won’t give a kitten about us not being able to play a video game, not to mention even if they did, the third party probably doesn’t care either.

It’s not our ISP’s, they have literally nothing to do in this matter (Belgacom is my ISP).
Doesn’t it go through 3 different addresses between belgacom and ncsoft? Looks like it goes balls up at 89.149.164.42, whatever that is.
It goes up at the last IP right before NCsoft, which is probably their ISP/gateway.
The other 2 address right after Belgacom are 100% fine
Yes, also having issues, with similar tracert results.
It’s not our ISPs, its something right before our connection hits the NCSoft servers/network.
Meaning ArenaNet might have more leverage to get this fixed than we do, if anyone ever bothers looking here that is.

I believe so too. Out of the testing it’s clear it is very close to their network, right after it leaves NCSoft’s network.
The same for Ukraine. Yesterday all was fine. But today it nightmare!
Same problem. Telenet isp, belgium. My neighbour (Belgacom ISP) same problem. pings (normal 36-42) go to 600-4000. Mining nodes, takes 15 seconds instead of 3. Please fix asap arenanet. Happened since about monday this week (12-02-2016).
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

Arenanet’s router nodes are a possible point of failure too. This is possible in every ping related post. Anyhow yes, been tracing for a couple of hours now, Anet nodes are spiking.

Resetting my router and setting the -clientport 80 thingy seemed to fix it for now, I’ll keep you guys posted.
Update: Nope, lag is back.
(edited by Absurd.2947)
I’d imagine we got some response from Anet by now. My ping was rather stable this morning but now (22:00) it’s just completely unplayable. Yesterday evening was the same. The fact that people from many different countries and ISPs report the same problem and it’s fine in other games tells me that it’s on their side.
It’s only in primetime, (19:00 gmt, till about 22:30 gmt +1). After that i had again 0 lag, and could finally complete fractals 100 hard mode.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
Today, is even worse, I am suffering 1000+ pings, unable to play at all, ArenaNet please fix the lag problem for SEA/OCX players please!
Yep, getting it bad on my end too, it’s been pretty bad for god knows how long but today it’s taking a few minutes to load into a map.
Great! Not only huge lag, been crashing few times now. Is any other SEA/OCX players suffering huge lag and crashing now?
Got the same issues fro about a month.
Checked with pingplotter and saw pocket losses on ncsoft route.Fix this immediately arena.
Huge lags, definitely NCsoft servers.
I wouldn’t say that yet, but it does say “destination unreachable”, appears you might be pinging a closed map. I would re-run using an open map.

The node at 89.149.164.42 is owned by Tinet Spa a server hosting company. I don’t think Anet has anything to do with them. But what I think is your biggest problem, is the 74% packet loss through your own ISP’s node. You might want to question that with them. This happens a few nodes before the ping spike and may be related.

Your ping spike occurs between nodes 4 & 5 after that it is pretty much stable. The is minimal packet loss near the end. Together they may be causing your issues, I’m not sure on this one.
The lag as been terrible it has turned wvw in to an unplayable nightmare. Rubber banding constant discontinued as well as skill delay and chat delay. I am not the only one experiancing this it is my entire server so I know it is not a connection issue on my end.

There is packetloss but the average latency remains low.
As you can see in the following nodes, the latency remains fine untill it reaches the node right infront of NCSoft.
Packetloss is based upon 4 pings, just like a regular “ping 8.8.8.8”
Does it mean there is no stable connection?
No because it is a snapshot of those 4 pings, with an average of 9ms mind you.
Checking at the node right before NCSoft, that’s where the delay happens.. The response to the ping is taking over 2000ms, which has nothing to do to packetloss, because it would be lower then.
This is a different issue NCSoft needs to resolve.
I’ll run PingPlotter again tonight in different map and see what it does.

That node “Tinet Spa” where your problem is might still be outside of their control. I would suggest submitting a support ticket for an individual response to your issue. I don’t think all players on that server pass through that node. If they did then it would be a server wide problem not just some people.

Part 2 boiz, issue still stands in 3 different instances (IP’s)
- 206.127.159.74:0 (2000ms)
- 206.127.159.143:0 (300 – 1800ms)
- 206.127.159.163:0 (30 – 1800ms)
Do I really need to dramatize and beg across all social platforms to fix this issue?
It’s been days I can’t play.
Only thing I can do is chat ingame with 2-5s delay!
