So I am in the very unfortunate position of having lost my guildwars 2 cdkey because I was dumb enough to buy a physical copy of Guildwars 2 that only contained a paper disc with the cdkey on it from a liscensed retailer. So I have lost my main guildwars 2 account that I played on for about 6 months after GW2 released.

In addition to this I am unable to locate the email I used for said account, or it has been compromised (I use about 5 emails in total with different abbrevations of my name etc. neither has worked or turned up anything useful)

Information I do have however is the following
- Display name for the account.
- Characters bound to the account.
- That the account is a “Standard Edition Pre-Purchase” and has the “Hero’s band” item bound to it.
- Is linked to one of my Guildwars 1 accounts, which I still have the CDkeys for!

Yet talking to the Guildwars 2 customer support feels the equivalent of talking to a brickwall.
I contacted them the 6th of August and throughout our email exchange going the same speed as real mail. today, 16th of August I recieved what could only be interpreted as a final response In that they are unable to verify the account.

Now I have no clue what exactly they have been unable to verify nor have I received any answers to any additional questions that I’ve asked throughout this exchange in my effort to understand what my paths of options are.

Throughout this ordeal I have had to talk to 4 different Customer support reps. It has been over 10 days since my first contact with them and I have gained literally nothing.

Now for my additional questions that CS just ignored but that maybe someone here can atleast answer

1. I have the cdkey for my guildwars 1 accounts, is that enough information to prove ownership of those accounts? If not what additional information Am i required to provide?

2. Is there any phone customer support one can call or live chat customer support that one can access? Because my issue could probably be resolved within 30min of live conversation of what information is required etc and what information I have and can provide directly, instead of having to exchange “snailpaced” emails and go through 4 different reps.

Just request to talk (i.e., communicate/write) with a superior from the support staff. That usually get things done in such a case.

Since you still have the GW1 CD key, that should help. Also, the e-mail you use to log into GW1 is the same as the one you use for GW2 (has to be, when the accounts became linked) — so try that one.

P.S. For the future, always type keys from physical copies down in a file on your PC as well, that way you will avoid another such incident.

Yup, always the best way. I had a similar issue a few months ago with my PSN account. It was one of those that got compromised when Sony got hacked. It basically told me I couldn’t link/unlink the PS4 to my PSN account since it had already been recently done by whoever had my account. Tech support tried to tell me I had to wait 6 MONTHS for it unlock. The problem is my kids couldn’t access any of the PS+ (which I had JUST renewed a week earlier) stuff since sub-accounts can’t access anything on the primary account unless the device is linked to the primary account. I was just livid. I got them on live chat and told them to get off their kitten and get it assigned to a DBA to clear the flag in the database that says I have to wait or I was going to above their heads and demand the money back for my PS+ subscription. Shockingly it was fixed within hours.
