I have intel processor i5-3570k @4.3GHz
SLI GTX560 Ti OC
and 8GB of RAM
And the game ALWAYS drops fps
How did you manage to build a game like that? I know so many people with bad PCs that run the game twice as good as i do..
BF3 works on my computer 60 FPS, no drops what so ever (yup, even in multiplayer)
Settings doesn’t really matter, always drops, doesn’t only when I use Subsampling and no shadows, but I didn’t buy a new PC to play with Subsampling and no shadows. SERIOUSLY..

WILL IT EVER BE FIXED?
I bought this computer specifically for GW2 and I’m very disappointed.

Two different games. Just because you can run one with all the highest settings doesn’t mean you can run another. Too many variables to make that comparison (different games, different game engines, different servers and location, etc.).

You will need to wait. There’s nothing much you can do now.

@Rabbiddog, Exactly, as it’s mainly the game engine problem, we with decent/high-end rigs just really feel unsatisfied with performance in GW2 /:

Im having a similar problem, I have a really good graphics card and processor, and I find out im getting 10 +/- 5 fps, it really sucks because I should be able to play Crysis no problems, and I even got around 45 fps on a HD benchmark for christ sake >:(

Some people do have good performance. What really good graphics card and processor do you have Mako? What settings have you tried? Have you tried the various suggestions in the various low fps threads on here? For example, some people’s video cards were running in 1x PCI speed, and that was killing their performance.

Ive sent a ticket to NCSoft tech support so Ill see what they can do for me, everyone is being told different things and I want to make sure im not doing anything that will end up doing nothing for my problem. Ill see if what they do fixes my problems ^^

My computer is 4 years old and I can still run this game awesomely. It only ever drops to about 25 fps is very crowded areas, like lion’s arch. 99% of the time I’m getting 40-60 fps. All settings are on max except sampling which is on native.

40fps is pretty smooth in my experience. I have never seen a game guarantee frame rates.

Your PC “worth” is irrelevant to the discussion, IMO. 10 years ago I could have bought a PC “worth” $2000. Today it would be nearly worthless.

It’s more relevant to post your CPU and GPU IMO.

40FPS in crowded areas is very respectable in an MMO. Remember, MMO’s and regular games (even multiplayer games) are two very different beasts.

One thought did occur to me however, if all you max out at is 60 FPS, you might have the frame limiter enabled in game. I did when I first started playing and it did the same until I disabled it. Now I max out at times in excess of 100 FPS (occasionally).

Get some knowledge. It doesn’t stack like that. A low end computer seems to perform better than the un optimized amd 7000 serie and nvidia 600 serie.

Ouch, before Oct 1 patch I was getting over 30 fps in heavy pvp fights, now I can’t break 20 fps and it’s nearly unplayable.

There is no excuse for GW2 to perform this horrible, SWTOR with max settings gave me 60-80fps everywhere, as far as I know system requirements between the two games aren’t that much different.

But again, your talking about cards that weren’t even out when the game was in development. The AMD 7000 and Nvidia 600 series have changes in the architecture and were still in development the same time as the game. Anytime I buy a new series of hardware I always go into it expecting there to be some issues like here. It will get better as newer drivers (like AMD just releasing the 21.11 beta drivers geared specifically towards the 7000 series) are released.

Unfortunately it takes time, so the demand they “fix it now” isn’t going to speed anything up because the game developers need to work with the hardware developers to work on drivers that help optimize the game for the new hardware. Seeing as they are just now releasing new drivers that are actually geared towards the new series, I would say it’s still going to be some time before this game will run smooth in all areas.

shrugs Really don’t know what else to tell you. It is what it is. I am on track to get a HD 7970 Ghz Edition by the end if this month and I fully expect to run into issue with games until new drivers come out. But I am looking to the future and go into this with the knowledge that there will be growing pains when new hardware is first released.

But again, apples and oranges. Two different developers, different game engines, different servers, etc.

So many people with good computer knowledge having such severe problems in just one game, that would be a very unlikely coincidence. I don’t know if the problem lies in the game or in the drivers (I hear a lot of complaints from Nvidia users though, including me with a GTX 670, and the experience changes a lot with different driver versions, e.g. 306.63 and 310.33 behave very different), I just hope this will be fixed one day.
Also, FPS problems in WvW and in PvE are two different things, WvW is probably heavily CPU bound, while there seem to be more problems with GPU utilization in PvE (which is a problem you eventually just don’t notice in WvW because it’s CPU limited anyway, but it’s probably still there).
