Hi Gaile!

I just started playing GW2 and chose a server that said “Medium” when I created my account. I played for a few days until I realized that I had joined a server that was in Germany. The worst part is…..I don’t speak German!

I’ve already contacted Support and the GM Mitch stated that there was absolutely nothing that could be done short of spending $10 or grinding my way in game for gold to change to an American server.

I told him I felt trapped and I would post about it on the forums. I’m just asking to change to an American based server. I don’t care at all which one, just as long as other people speak English.

If nothing else, it would be great for you guys to explain to new users (GW1 & 2 are the only MMOs I’ve ever played) what servers are and how to pick an appropriate one (i.e. where people speak the same language you do). I was just so excited to play that I had no idea how much that decision would affect my gameplay. My priority at the time was to be in a server that wasn’t overly crowded.

I know that your response will probably be empathetic, understanding, and completely unyielding in your response. I’ve read some things that you have written on simliar posts. You are a great PR person, and can make people feel a bit better even when they are powerless. Thanks for reading!

Regarding what you say about the servers, next to the server name, If I’m not mistaken, there is a tag that says [DE] [SP] [FR] which stands for what is the language of the server, German, Spanish or French.

About your server issue, as GM Mitch told you, we can’t help you from the forums. I am sorry but the only possible solution is to change servers by yourself. Sorry.
