I’m not one to judge whether or not the OP did or didn’t buy gold from an RMT the point is the judgment seem to me to be to stringent. I can come up with several scenarios how this could effect someone totally innocent, one I have already stated that the RMT mistyped the account name sending it to the wrong account. Another could be that a guild member is kicked from a guild, said guild member want to get even. So he or she has access to Mommy and Daddy’s credit card or has a lot of disposable income. Goes to an RMT site and buys gold in the guild leaders name. It just takes the account name to get the gold delivered so anyone could buy gold from an RMT in anyone’s account name.

It seem to me that one good way to slow down RMTers would be some system in place that prohibits gold transfer to only people on your friends list and the person has to be friended for a period of time like 30 days and have certent amount of correspondence between the two, can transfer gold. Also someone would have to been in a guild for say 30 days and get at least one promotion to be able to use the guild bank to do deposit gold.

1) You have an “extensive” history of purchasing gold from RMT
2) RMT will “harass” you with gold if you pay them
3) Yes, we are and have been sending out notifications of account action in regards to Botting / Hacking / RMT Purchases for months.
4) I would suggest not doing any more RMT transactions if you value your account

I’m assuming since you have come out in public and stated this that there is hard evidence (eg credit card receipts or something) that proves that the account was involved in all this. Otherwise this seems to be accusations in public that could be construed as deflammatory and lead to Court action to clear the OP’s name.

Of course, if the OP has been doing these things then he should be banned. Forever. Unless the RMT company is connected with the games company…

If the OP is lying, perhaps a future in writing fiction rather than playing MMO’s?

I’m a bit sad honestly from the reply, but he’s the higher power here so people will believe him no matter what I say.

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply. I’m not going to push this much more as I’m more afraid of you banning my account than getting this issue resolved.
I’ll be 100% honest and say that I’ve never purchased RMT, honestly. If you’re convinced that my account has bought RMT, I’d like you to check a US authorized network I had on my account that I removed 2 days ago, maybe just maybe my account has been compromised.

I appreciate the reply, I don’t appreciate the really broad reply you gave me and it certainly doesn’t solve the main issue, that anyone can ban anyone by buying RMT gold in this persons name. It is a scenario which needs to be covered and addressed, otherwise innocent accounts may get suspended.
I’m not going to pursue this anymore and people are free to believe in whomever they want.

I wish you the best, but please put yourself in my shoes and see things from my perspective and please check my activity history, you’ll see that what I’ve said has been no lie.

If that network listed was one in Texas, that’s the Anet one that shows up when you are on the forums. It’s a little strange quirk that happens.

But that would be happening all in a short period of time. Doesn’t really follow the “extensive” that Chris was referring to. Also, you also just said something that is considered fraud, and that kid is going to be getting into A LOT of trouble from Mom/Dad, especially if Mom/Dad try to get the charges reversed. This wasn’t a couple times that are issues, seems the OP has had previous purchases outside of the most recent event.

The above scenarios seem unlikely for a few reasons.
1) the comment about the “extensive history.” I can see a mistake once on one gold sellers account but not multiple mistakes over a period of time involving multiple gold selling accounts (since in my experience gold selling accounts are terminated within 24 hours of report, an “extensive history” means several accounts sending gold over time)
2) most people don’t have free unmonitored access of daddy’s credit card and certainly not over a period time. Once the bill arrives and is looked through then this sort of behavior would be stopped.
3) most people are still unaware that there are consequences to the players in buying gold so it wouldn’t make sense that they would be sending gold off to people they are angry with.
4) it assumes that someone would accept large, multiple sums of gold from a strange account. Not everyone will.

I just don’t buy the argument that there is some way for an account to be suspended or banned for receiving RMT gold without actually, you know, receiving that gold.

  • If the mails containing said gold are returned to sender, then the account never received the gold and so wouldn’t be subject to any infractions.
  • If instead the player accepted the coin, then there is a record of that.

The OP in this case certainly sounds sincere. Alas, that’s not enough to prove their case, especially since each of their explanations of the “facts” has other explanations. For example, we have only their word that they never accepted any RMT gold. Their “proof” is an email in their inbox and there are lots of explanations for that, including that they got e.g. 10 emails and only accepted the gold from 9 of them, leaving one to support their case.

We also only have Chris Cleary’s word that ANet has done their due diligence and has confirmed the acceptance of RMT gold (not just the receipt of such email). However, CC’s track record is excellent and I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially in the absence of any other compelling story, never mind any actual evidence that ANet made a mistake.

tl;dr Even though the OP makes a plausible case, in the end, they are asking us to accept their word, assume that ANet doesn’t know how to distinguish received coin from coin still in the email (or returned-to-sender), and assume that they don’t know how to check the account record to verify logins (locations, IP addresses, time online, etc.).

After Anet rekt your lies, does this mean you’re going to take another break from the game? If so, can I have your stuff?
