Okay, so this is a reoccurring blemish in my game world. I’m certain it has to do with something on my end, but I’m just not sure what that something is. In the past, I just assumed it was from straining, or long play time, which usually lead me to finishing what I was doing and taking a break.
It appeared (to me) the game was fine and I could play, and then it would show up again and I’d get ready to stop playing. Now, the kicker is it would show up at random times into my play sessions. I hadn’t thought much of it until tonight.
I logged on, have only been on for about 10 minutes tops, and I walk into a cave and there are these lines again. Then it occurred to me. I only have seen these lines inside structures. Not in the big open game world. So it’s quite curious to me as to why it’s doing this. It does it on both low and high settings. (Max, Auto-Detect, and Best Performance). It does not do this in other games that I have noticed personally.
Part of me feels it’s my graphics card (dxdiag at the bottom of this post), part of me thinks it could be my TV (I do not use an actual monitor), part of me has no idea what’s up. But here is two screen shots (Auto-Detect; Best Performance) and my dxdiag information. I’ll try to provide any addition information I can. Also, at Auto-Detect, I run a smooth 40-70fps given the situation (I average like 10 in megazergs, which is horrendous.) So, let’s have some insight; any one got any ideas?

EDIT/UPDATE:
I forgot to mention that these lines, are multiple through out the caves or indoor structures, nor do they appear in all indoor areas (noticeably at least.) and they are like checkerboard. They also don’t always appear that green color either, sometimes they’re black and it looks as if the pallet is shifted slightly off key.

I did post this kind of late, I’m gonna bump this up (Is that allowed?).
Guess no one else has any idea how to help. :/
Gonna bump this instead of remaking a topic.
Checkerboard means you might be missing resources in gw2.dat (checkerboard is often used as a placeholder/fallback texture). Run the game with -repair on the command line.
However, from your other evidence:
Both of those could be caused by damaged hardware (sorry ) , or just not adjusting voltages accordingly when overclocking. If you have OC’d undo it and see if the situation improves. It also looks like you are using a laptop? Combined with the fact you are using a TV means that it’s likely you are playing GW2 in bed? Put a tray under/solid surface under the laptop – it will improve the airflow. Blankets are great and killing cooling performance on laptops.

However, from your other evidence:
- The screenshots look like lighting artifacts. This may be caused by problems with your graphics card.
- The “worsens over time” nature (where it only occurs after some time) means it could be a memory issue (RAM or Graphics RAM).

Absolutely right.
1. Update your Video drivers to the latest stable (dont run Beta drivers)
2. Memtest86+ for 48hours to rule out system memory issues
98% of the time, those artifacts are Driver bound issues (esp on REALLY old drivers)
2% of the time, bad/dying video card. Usually you’ll see mass pixelization when the card is dying (mainly from overheating). Bad Video ram would generally corrupt textures and you’d see more then lines and checkerboards.
Yay! Replies!
I’ll correct two things.
When I say checkerboard, I don’t mean like, textures are missing. I mean just the lines (from the pictures) go across the environment and form a sort of checkerboard effect.
And it actually doesn’t worsen over time, that’s just what I thought happened. But when I logged in one day, only after ten minutes, I noticed the lines, which lead me to believe that it has nothing to do with how long I’ve been playing, but they’re just there.
I am not using a laptop. I have an HPE500f tower, though I’ve upgraded a few parts (Graphics, and Powersupply). I don’t think I’ve updated my card before, or I could have updated it fully, and I should roll back to a more stable version, as suggested.
If I did have a laptop, I can promise you I wouldn’t leave it on a blanket, and I am not playing in bed. TV is just convenient for my tiny area to have my Xbox/PS3/DirecTV/and PC hooked up to it.
