TP-Link also sell external antenna, and that’s what I use as my router is on the opposite side of the house and on a different floor.
I know it says it’s an outdoor one, but it’s working fine inside, and yes the TP-L cards alone are pretty poo.

Whatever you do though, don’t use the TP-L software, otherwise you’ll be constantly losing window focus and it will minimise to the desktop, took me a couple of weeks to narrow down what kept doing it to my computer and fix it. So annoying. >_<

How good an adapter works depends on what modem/AP you have as well, if it is crap it will not matter what you buy. Also, a price range would help, as for wifi adapters Intel is hard to beat and for 34 bucks you can get something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106135
external antenna may help but as Grimmysaur.7429 and TinkTinkPOOF.9201 said but it will not save router’s low power wifi ap from disconnects .
there are many routers that you can change how much power the router ap use but i don’t know if it is recommended for your good health ( i don’t know and i never did it ) to change it to full power inside a home .
maybe the better solution is a big antenna cable from your wifi to a position where the normal antenna have str8 and clear view with router

Think I going in a different direction. I have been reading up on Powerline technology and going to give it a try.

I use powerline and absolutely couldn’t be happier. The only thing I wish I had over what I have is the new powerline which not only creates a direct wired connection but also creates a wifi hotspot as well. Ofc prices reflect that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704143
Just another bit on the speeds 200 wont be 200, 500 wont be 500 powerline is notorious for that. BUT that will not be you limiting factor when your isp is something like 14 up 25 down. Unless you have the super fast isp or want to stream from one powerline adapter to another the 200 model will not be an issue.

As you just mentioned. Powerline/Homeplug tech is great for getitng around signal loss issues.
My house has these plugs installed throughout for our laptops and other wireless devices, my main rig is wired (cable goes through the floor downstairs and into the moden/router) So if ur not willing to route a wire cable through ur house then going wireless is the only option and if u have signal issue, homeplugs are a great work around.
They have their limits though, i beleve the highest bandwidth u can expect is around 500mb/sec with Homeplug v2. V1 i beleve is 100-200mb/sec and thats in a perfect situation, which ofc almost never happens.

Well my current internet plan atm is only 50 up and 30 down, so I am not worried about hitting the 100-200mb per second area
I just got a pair, so far i couldn’t be happier, before I was around 30 down and 20 up, now I just installed them, took me about 1 minute, and I am hitting 49 down and actually above my 30 up, at 33 up, I am sitting at 100% connection and so far no issues. If the connection issues stay away which I assume they will this will be a very awesome purchase for me.
