Hi DaBleuberry.1780

without prior knowledge to what graphics card you currently have, it will be hard to suggest what would be a viable upgrade.

I did find this review though in a short search perhaps it may help:

Low Profile AMD HD7850 – 150w Max

Thank you Nitro for showing me that really good graphics card, I think I might buy that one but, my only concern is of the noise because the review said it makes noise but it is unclear wether or not it makes a lot of noise or just a little bit of noise because if its going to make noise to a point where I cannot stand it anymore I probably wont buy it.

There is also a HD7750 version which has less fans, however it comes at a major setback.
You get:

  • 800Mhz core (860MHz on HD7850)
  • 512cores (1024 on HD7850)
  • 1GB Memory (2GB on HD7850)
  • 128bit Memory (256bit on HD7850)
  • 4.5GHz Memory (4.8GHz on HD7850)

Without known the rest of your pc spec I would say the 7850 is clearly a good choice and should do well in many games considering its size.

The review said the noise was just audible which for a low profile card with that power is quite remarkable. I would expect it to be loud whilst playing GW2 if it uses 100% of the GPU. I have a GTX480 and I manually set the fan speed high and it gets really loud, but I generally don’t notice it because of my headphones and the noise is usually only there when gaming.

Whats the reason for having the graphics card quite if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks for the information and the reason why I need a quiet one is because I have a little brother and a sister that sleep pretty early in the night and I don’t want to wake them up. The 7750 is what I was first going to buy but it requires a 300 watt psu or better, doesn’t it?

What power supply do you have DaBleuberry? Are you able to find out the following information:

  • Manufacturer
  • Model Number
  • Wattage
  • Also the Manufacturer and model number of the computer itself would help

The 7750 shouldn’t use 300w I will assume that is what is recommended to run an entire computer with that card included. When I said 150w for the 7850 it was for the card alone not the entire computer.

Back to the noise issue, you may be better off with 7750, just keep in mind it may limit performance if your CPU is fairly good. Even then though you should still expect some noise as the 7750 will be pushed harder to perform than that of the 7850.

200w psu peak, not actual which is 130-150w.
Your system was never meant to have a gpu card added. It was only meant to use the onboard only.
Very little improvement will happen in your system by adding a weak gpu to an already bad and old system.

Here is some suggestions
XFX Radeon HD 6570 2GB $70
XFX Radeon HD 6450 2GB $60
XFX Radeon HD 6450 1GB $55
ASUS Radeon HD 6450 1GB $50

These are the only ones to get. Good suggestion, buy a new PC.

The computer system is not that bad, the only problem I see with it is the limited space and power supply.

@DaBlueberry

The power supply in you computer system is not capable of running the 7750/7850 unfortunately. You would first need a bigger power supply before upgrading to one of those cards. Then there is also the height issue. you would have to make sure that the low profile card came with a “Half Height” back plate.

Alternatively you could buy a bigger pc case that takes a normal sized power supply and move all the pc components to there. this would make upgrading far more easy, but you sacrifice the size of the case.

  • Note: before moving to a bigger case some research into which motherboard form factor is used in the Acer AX1420-UR10P so the correct case can be used.
