I too get the Black Screen
you need to provide any information on your systems powersupply or mainboard, we can’t really provide recommendations without them.
lso, I am not currently playing at all due to this card being the same make and model and the fan is acting up.
Good idea, the 8600GT chips suffer from the brittle bumps issue as well (the solder between the gpu and board itself crack)

PSU- Delta Electronics 400W model: DPS 400 RB A
MB- 4006159R – Intel (Stoughton) G965 Motherboard
Ive been eyeballing some cards but Im not really familiar with anything other than Nvidia. Im not trying to run the game on uber settings or anything, just enough to do some dungeons and what not.
Edit: here is a webpage for the power supply : http://www.ascendtech.us/delta-dps-400rb-a-400-watt-power-supply_i_cspdeldps400rba.aspx

I’m running a GTS 430 on a 400w PSU it’s not too bad, playable, a tad laggy in some spots.
Though I also have a AMD phenom 965 BE at 3.4 ((OC’d to 3.8))
And I know GW2 is really processor heavy.
Either way the first issue was GW2 eating your card a GT 8600 definitively can’t run GW2.
Slip on over to Newegg.com, their GPU section is pretty extensive and have breakdowns on the cards so you can check and make sure you have a powerful enough PSU and such.

um.. lol the forum is censoring graphic card numbering now.
Indeed I know that now WereDragon, even though its above the minimum system reqs. and I use canirunit.com to see if my system is up to par for some games, and it said it was a pass, not spectaularly but it was a pass. Thanks for the suggestion as well, I was looking at a 610 or 620 as tiger direct has those at a price that fits in my wallet. I was wondering about ATI’s stuff as well as I have never used em but am willing to give them a shot. Thanks for both of your time and effort to help me out.
No problems also ATI is similar to Nvidia where the first number is the generation and the next few numbers are usually the power.
6970 and 7970 to use a poor example are basicly the same the 7970 just has newer hardware
The same rings true for Nvidia where in the case of a 610 and 550. The 550 is more powerful but the 610 is a generation newer.

unless its the case of a rebrand, where a 550m ends up being a 640 or 630m
Follow this instruction, this will help you revive your GPU: “Just be careful doing it”
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1421792
After doing that with your GPU, do this step with your CPU:
Remove the fan and clean it and if you have a extra thermal paste put more into ur cpu..
Goodluck
