I’m sitting beside a friend of mine who has recently switched ISP’s (He now has fiber) And since then finds himself unable to log on to his GW2 account (Through both the website and the game client)

I brought my laptop and found myself perfectly capable of connecting to his new wireless network and logging in to the GW2 forums, my authentication mail arrived as it should but his mails are nowhere to be found, we tried logging in his accounts through my laptop since I was able to login through it, but this also didn’t work, still no authentication e-mail.

What could be causing this? Why aren’t his authentication mails not arriving?

Did he use to receive emails from Anet before? You might find it useful to check out this sticky about not getting emails:

Has your friend carefully checked the spam folder or any other folder it might have ended up in? (eg. gmail now oddly sorts out your inbox into tabs so it might not appear in the main one). Could always use the email search box just to make sure. If not, check block list, if nothing works your friend might have to switch email providers.

We followed every trick in that guide to no avail, what else could be happening? And how can we switch email providers if we can’t access his account? We tried getting the original to forward it to a new account on a different provider but that didn’t work either.

Your friend, and only your friend, would need to contact the CS Team and ask for assistance with changing his/her Account Name.

When your friend is opening a ticket they provide an email in one of the boxes. You can put the new email in there and anet will contact you through that email. Specify in the ticket that you want to change the email address to a new one because you weren’t getting emails from them. Also when you open a ticket you should get an automated confirmation response so that will allow you to check if the new email can receive Anet emails. Good luck
